An enjoyable roast and hop aroma. I liked this more than my friend, who declared it to have a charcoal flavor. I do think it has a bit of charcoal but I still mostly liked it. Pretty thick.

On Tap at Growler Guys, Meridian Clear very dark brown with redish edges. Thin light tan head and even sheets of lacing. Lots of roasted malts and fairly biter. Not particularly obnoxious but balanced and smooth for the black IPA. The hop flavors are not particularly fresh west coast style, but work well with the dark malts. Solid bitter dark ale. crispaire (255) - - NOV 7, 2016
Poured black as night from 12 oz. bottle. Herbaceous, slightly piney, hoppy, with a nice maltiness on the nose and tastebuds. Mild notes of prunes. Smoooth brew. A good example of a winter ale. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - OCT 5, 2016
