750mL bottle, 2005 vintage. Poured a lovely shade of clear, lighter reddish-amber with a fluffy cap of khaki head.. looked great in the glass! The aroma picked up a soft bouquet of red and darker fruits paired with aged caramel and bready notes.. mild spicage around the nose. The flavor found jammy fruits and biscuity malts at the core, with tangy aged fruit and oak-like notes around.. more peppery and rye-like notes plus complimentary oxidation toward the back.. sweet, slightly tacky finish. 750 ml bottle from the brewery. 2010 vintage. Pours a semi-cloudy orange amber with a huge, initially foamy off-white head that settles fizzy. Aroma has some Belgian yeast character, with sweet malts, citrus and other fruits, candi sugar, and warming alcohol. Flavor of sweet and caramel malts, brown sugar, dried fruits, toast, straw, and crackers. Medium-bodied, with high carbonation and a sweet, crisp, malty mouthfeel. Old ale? Post Borefts I Invasion of Fonefan and Charlottes room tasting! Cloudy amber beer. Chocolatey malt with a light biscuit caramel and subtle hops. Not bad.
The Dan Journal #486. Tasted 7/4/11. 2010 Vintage. Pours lively with an amber bronze hue. Thick, billowing off-white head. Aromas of soapy citrus and tea. Full bodied with a berry sweetness and bready malts. Good malt body. A nice cream soda note. Sweet finish with a touch of the dry. Woody, earthy malts and subtle tea-like hops. 3000th United States beer rating! 2008 C&C bottle courtesy of TheCheeseMan in Mystery Swap 4.0 and shared at the 5/7/11 DC Ratebeer gathering. Pours a hazy copper color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, cheese, cinnamon and some other spices. The taste is toffee, apple, citrus, spice, raisin and some oxidation notes. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.

Bottle, thanks to dkachur. Really dark burnt rusty orange with a light tan head. Lots of oxidation in the aroma, dark fruits, toffee and nearing on barleywine to me. 750mL thanks to dkachur. The pour is a very cloudy, muddy, murky deep orange to brown with a medium yellow head. No lace. Aroma is barleywine like or old ale: heavy toffee and caramel, big brown sugar stickiness, oxidized barleywine orange mint. Taste is like a small barleywine or old ale with mild chalkiness, yeast, oxidation, orange mint (oxidized barleywine), small toffee. Pretty far off from Biere de Garde for style.
