Deep amber brown pour with a small white head. Aroma is grape cough syrup and light toasted malts. Flavor presents itself much better with toffee, light powdery chocolate and earthiness. Medium bodied with touch of sweetness. Pass. jbruner (5008) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAY 31, 2013
Pours a translucent reddish brown from the bottle with thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma is medicinal, kind of like a grape cough syrup with a toasted malt back. Taste is much better than the nose, like a lagered brown, with a bubbly sweet mouth. Meh. dwm1034 (786) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bomber from Portland grocery. Pours dark brown with thin head...minimal lacing. Hints of chocolate / Caramel in nose and initial taste. Good to great brown ale. beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - MAR 2, 2013
On tap. Dark amber/copper with a thin tan head. Scent is sweet malts, caramel and bread. Taste is caramel, nuts, roast and bitter in the finish. Nice. SpringsLicker (3660) - Tennessee, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Pours a clear dark brown body with a tall, long lasting, frothy off-white head.
Nutty aroma with caramel and a hint of smoke.
The flavor is nutty and sweet on the front with a nice hop bitterness on the backside.
Nice medium palate.
Fatehunter (2582) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - DEC 30, 2012
Pours a nice finger of tan head on a clear, brown body.
Aroma is a faint toasted malt.
The taste is a roasted malt throughout, a little nutty and mild bitterness in the finish.
Smooth texture, moderate carbonation and medium body.
Great flavor and balance throughout. The smell was the only letdown for being so faint. Squizzle (306) - Ashland, Oregon, USA - DEC 29, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Appeared very nice. Smell not so strong, taste good although I would have liked it a bit colder than served. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - DEC 28, 2012
On draught at Pelican Pub. A good balance of dark malt notes and a decent bittering from the hops. kwoeltje (2233) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - NOV 18, 2012
(bottle from friend) dark brown with small head. Slightly sweet brown malt aroma. Flavor was sweetish brown malt, a little caramel. superspak (5793) - Michigan, USA - OCT 7, 2012
22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating but should be fairly fresh. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Good foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, chocolate, toffee, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light earth, and light citrus. Nice aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of caramel, roasted grain, biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, toffee, herbal, grass, earth, and light citrus. Light bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, toffee, biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Awesome flavor robustness with great balance and complexity; no cloying flavors at all on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent brown ale! Nicely robust and balanced with nice complexity; very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this.
