3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pretty good beer. It had a sweet little head when I poured it into the glass which didn’t last long it gave the illusion that it was flat but not so, it was actually really good.
Bomber poured a hazy amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of toffee, dried fruit and light tobacco. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors 8f toffee, fruitiness and light tobacco with a smooth dry lingering fruity toffee finish. jfb (6973) - GERMANY - OCT 16, 2015
(bottle) hazy ruby colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of bread dough and brown sugar, with lots of vanilla, cherry syrup and chocolate fudge. flavour is mostly the same, lots of fudge, more bread dough and raisins, quite alcoholic, with some dark bread crusts, herbal hops, grape skins and sugar icing in the slightly starchy finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation. Bottled: Beautiful brew with ruby accented mahogany hues topped by a fluffy head and very good lacework upon the thistle. Big arse toffee and caramel tones along with brushes of fig, prune, candy apple, and roasted nuts. Some toasted marshmallow, smoked meat, and herbal tea notes moved about by firm but not overly aggressive alcohol. The finish is long and earthy, a touch of iodine too. Very lovely brew, Mikey Likey. gramity (1684) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 19, 2015
Pours a clear amber with a small lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of caramel, sweet malt, earthy hops, and a touch of toasted malt. Taste is the same as aroma but more prominent. medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 11, 2014
"Very very malty brew...big toffee, caramel, light peat and fruit. Definitely hits the spot when in the mood for the style. Shows all of its 8-8.5% alcohol, but it’s warming and pleasant."

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2014 Bottle: (22oz $8 total wine): Pours a dark dark red with a tan head. Taste cocoa. Medium plus body with lots of malt. A little sweet but very nice.
Update 9/26/2014):was4.0. This continues to impress me. superspak (6200) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - APR 3, 2014
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/31/2012. Pours hazy deep ruby red color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with decent retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, herbal, light smoke, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, herbal, light pepper, light smoke, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light smoke, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Dame nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent scotch ale. All around great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. robforbes (2277) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - NOV 24, 2013
pours a clear dark copper with a small tan head that goes away quickly, and a little lacing.
smell is of malt, toffee, and a roastiness comes through.
taste is thick, malty, and burnt toffee. ends creamy with lots of malt. drpimento (3814) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 19, 2013
Poured at a good temperature with a smallish, tan, fizzy head that soon settled and no lace. Color is a clear deep mahogany. Aroma is heavy malt and dark ripe fruit. Flavor’s a lot like nose, lots of tang, bittersweet, hint of brandy. Body is huge, carbonation a bit sharp, and is very warming. Finish is like flavor, alcohol warmth lasts a long time. Not my fav wee heavy. Drake (14332) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 28, 2013
Bomber from some online place I’m forgetting the name of right now. Pours a hazy dark red color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toffee and dark fruits. The taste is toffee, caramel, dark fruits, anise. Medium bodied. I thought based on the aroma this was going to be awful, but thankfully it tastes very nice. This will be a very bi-polar score.
