COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Saison ales of Belgium inspire our special ale, Saison du Pelican. Saison is the French word for season, because these ales were traditionally brewed in autumn or winter. With a spicy, herbal aroma from the special Belgian yeast and Golding hops, and a snappy, refreshing finish, Saison du Pelican combines traditional flavors with excellent drinkability

A solid US saison but a tad sweet. Looked grand - cloudy gold with a vast head. Clean, creamy aroma of dusty wheat sack, bready malts and citrus. Soft mouthfeel. Too many residual sugars for my taste. Banana, some nice sour wheaty notes and curious green capsicum before a dry finish. (Ecze’s Ashfield RB gathering 07. Thanks Linc for sharing this one)

Bottle provided by Styles. Clear pale body with a large white head. The nose is floral and herbal with notes of bread and pepper. The flavor is fairly dry with pepper, spice, bread, hay and lemon. Medium body is soft with heavy and tight carbonation.

(750ml bottle, 2007 vintage) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a large off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, lemon, coriander, floral, orange, light spruce, cereal, and other herbs. Flavor of floral hops, coriander, light fruitiness, and more herbs.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Great retention. Herbal, spicy nose of white pepper, cumin, pale grains and avocado with traces of orange peel and pineapple. Terrific balance; herbal flavor with pale malt sweetness and spicy bitterness. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, herbal, lightly bitter finish. Big time thanks goes out to Bu11zeye for sharing his bottle!

boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - SEP 26, 2007
2007. Pours with a thick and tall head, frothy and shiny, white, with fun lacing. The body is a cloudy gold/orange with totally suspended yeast particulates that add microscopic texture to a beautiful appearance. Heavy multi-cereal grains, lots of pineapple, orange mild apricot and herbal and lightly grassy hops charge at me in the first nosing. this aroma is exceptionally unique, admirably complex, doughy and appetizing. Light pepper in a great yeast profile. The flavor produces heavy esters, heavy alcohol, boisterous fruit, lesser pineapple, an addition of tangerine and is engaging and accellerated by quenching medium acidity. Sweetness is mild to medium, bitterness low to mild, acidity moderate, all balanced well. The palate is oily, medium bodied, very fizzy and highly carbonated but fun. Finishes dry and lightly spicy, fruit and yeast lingering, hoppy bitterness sticking around even longer. A great beer, very highly drinkable and one to remember. This is very satisfying. Pelican rocks.

Courtesy Bu11seye. Pours a hazy golden color. The head is huge and inviting, rocky craggy and long lasting. Aroma is grassy and herbaceous, Some pepper type aroma is coming out. Flavor is dry, with a touch of bitterness. A bit to carbonated for my liking.

Bottle: Deep straw, quite hazy, loads of sediment at the end of the bottle, large foamy white head, clingy lacing. Looks decent enough. Sweet floral nose, slightly yeasty, a bit candyish. Seems like it would be more on the sweet side versus the tart/bright side. Pale breadiness on the tongue, somewhat dull, very muted sweet floral accents. Not as sweet or floral as the nose would suggest. Decent, but a little boring. Moderate body, spritzy mouthfeel... *burp* Finish might be a bit sweeter than the start, a little mealy, but very little floral aspect. A little tingly after the finish, very minor white citrusy bits linger. Tiz okay, better in the nose, but not as bright or floral as I like my Saisons. However, for an American made examples it is not half bad.

Bottle: The aroma is very floral and grassy with moderate yeastiness and something that seems slightly nutty. It pours a hazy golden-orange with some fine sediment and a big white head. The flavor starts yeasty with some faint orange. It finishes moderately floral with a hint of spice. The carbonation is very lively to the ponit of being prickly.

Thanks Chris for the sample: Golden hue with a fluffy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of grassy hops, honey, coriander, grainy malts, pear, and sadly some diacetyl. The taste is sort of earthy and cheesy with a fruity overtone. Some sweet fortified white wine vinous flavors. The finish is dry and spicy with a band-aid offish character. The mouth feel is lively and very carbonated. Well this beer seemed to miss the boat, a complete disappointment.

Bottled. Beer is hazy, with a small light brown (yeasties?) particulates milling about the bottom of the glass. The head is large, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing.
The aroma is nice. Malty with light notes of caramel and toasted grain; Hoppy with light notes of herb, lemon zest, trace of resin; Yeasty with a trace of sweat; Light miscellaneous notes of orange zest, banana and traces of grains of paradise, alcohol, pineapple and green apple.
The flavor is lightly acidic, trace bitter, lightly sweet with a long, trace acidic/dry finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is fizzy.
