COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This IPA is sure to ruffle some feathers and send true hop-heads looking for cover. To get us through the rainy season in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve brewed a New-World India Pale Ale using exclusively Australian grown Ella hops. The use of Ella hops offers an aroma that is filled with gooseberry and bright fruit. The fresh and zippy Ella hops are nicely balanced by a clean and light pale malt character. We’ve liberally dry hopped Umbrella twice to add to its distinct and complex flavors. Go on, reach for an Umbrella and let it pour.

Bottled 355ml (Beer Republic)
Slightly hazy yellow colour, medium-sized white head. Aroma has gooseberry and hop oily gasoline. Medium-bodied. Flavour has also gooseberry, gasoline and then some tropical fruits. Quite light palate for 7.4 % brew but some warming alcohol in the background. Interesting showcase of Ella (which is not so good single hop hop).

orbit (60) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 10, 2017
Expensive and overpriced at Bierkoning as usual, it is a nice IPA and also decent enough for a good grade, but it doesn’t stand out or anything. Aroma is nill and also bleaky apperance.

kermis (12869) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 5, 2017
Draft at Zeezicht, Breda. Near clear golden with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, light grapefruit, light tropical notes and a little malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Idiosynkrasie (7436) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2017
355ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Rather complex and slightly strange, floral, grassy, fruity and piney, hoppy aroma, notes of bamboo, lychee, strawberry, gooseberry, pine, sweet-ish biscuity malty background. Taste is dry, grassy and piney hoppy, hints of lemon, a cautious touch of rosemary, increasing bitterness, minimally chalky and soapy finish.

CacheManyHose (713) - HONG KONG - JAN 3, 2017
Bottle from QC. Drank w Matt at home. Pours a cloudy green-gold with white , Smells of tart bright citrus, tangerine, orange, gooseberry, light wood and peppery spice. Taste is moderate resin bitterness, very faint anise and wood, pale malt. Body is light to medium, fairly smooth and creamy, moderately stony bitter finish. Nice aroma and good showcase for the Ella hop (which I’ve never encountered before). Bright and tart and berry-ish. Taste is a bit less interesting. Could be slightly more hop forward, but balanced and good overall.

HKdIPA (799) - HONG KONG - JAN 3, 2017
Bottle from QClub at home. Hazy bright orange/yellow pour with frothy white head. Bright tropical fruit and tart berry aroma with some bready malt (not that fresh maybe) and booze. Taste is a bit muddy - again not that fresh - but has nice notes of tart and sweet white grapes, some crisp apple, and bready malt with light booze. Smooth palate. Better than expected and would probably be really good fresh.
