COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This IPA is sure to ruffle some feathers and send true hop-heads looking for cover. To get us through the rainy season in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve brewed a New-World India Pale Ale using exclusively Australian grown Ella hops. The use of Ella hops offers an aroma that is filled with gooseberry and bright fruit. The fresh and zippy Ella hops are nicely balanced by a clean and light pale malt character. We’ve liberally dry hopped Umbrella twice to add to its distinct and complex flavors. Go on, reach for an Umbrella and let it pour.

Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is herbal, earthy moss, rubber, ammonia. Taste is very earthy pine, unripe fruits, random plants in the forest. This was much too fresh vegetal for me, something too spiny / harsh.

Most of the Northwestern IPA's I tried in Oregon were dank and aggressive, but Pelican's umbrella is a different sort. This IPA is juicy, vibrant, and light on bitterness. It has a hazy gold color. Bright aromatics that are piney, floral, and peachy. Fruit-forward flavor profile. Berries, sweet tropical fruits, melons, stone fruit, and nectar. Crisp minerality in the finish. Its taste and feel are redolent of sauvignon blanc. This is a balanced and approachable IPA, and it's hella good with some crispy fish tacos.

Sampled on the sand at Pacific City. Lean and biscuity malts with a full, rich gooseberry ella notes stacked on it. Nice stuff.

Tap in the Cannon Beach location. Gold color, some lacing, but entirely clear. Interesting choice of hops, citrus, grass, and they seem fresh. Moderate bitterness, a little malt, and dry finish. the best of the beers at the Pelican tap room I tried, but kind of old fashioned in its execution.

Emeryville, Ca - BevMo! - 22 oz bomber, Hazy, golden orange pour, snow white head, nice lacing. Aroma of honeydew melon, a touch of spruce, Flavor has some citrus notes, a bit of candied fruit sweetness, some passion fruit, a bit of raw cake mix. Sticky mouthfeel, Rating #21 of my 2017 Northern California vacation, enjoyed at Crescent Beach Overlook, Redwood National Park.

PotjeBier (3633) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 5, 2017
Draft @ Beer Temple. Hazy pale golden color. Dense white head. Aroma’s: citrus, tropical fruit, grapefruit, light malty sweetness. Retronasal the maltiness is more upfront, with bitterness and pine. Flavor is moderate bitter with light sweetness. Medium bodied. Finish is slightly dry, rather bitter. Not entirely fresh but still OK.
