Draft at Moriartys. Dark clear orange copper pour with a tight off-white foamy head. Malty dark red fruits with a touch of funky sour. Taste is much "cleaner" (read less body, less funk) than most Flemish Reds but it otherwise works in that category. Richer fruit flavors than expected. Pomegranate. Dark purple plums/prunes. Concord grapes. Dried blueberries. Cherry cordials. Some minor dark chocolate and liquorice notes play along. Much better than expected. had on tap at blue dust during 2013 PCBW. Pour is transparent copper with tight bubbled light tan head. Nose has a lot of spicy rye, light sour note, a bit vegetal, notes of grain behind and some dark berry very light. Taste has rye up front, a fair amount of grain and light dough. Had this at Where The Wild Beers Are. Pours a clear brown amber with a thin white head. Licorice, roast, toffee and old chocolate. Tastes like old flat chocolate wine. Faint acid, funky cheese. Bottle sampled at WtWBA Brooklyn 2013. Pours an amber body with thin lacing. Aroma is grain and malt, overall pretty muted. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of crackery grains, caramel malts, and a light fruitiness in the finish. Overall, not sour or tart, or remotely funky. Yo, Penn’s Fakin the Funk. On tap at Piper’s. Light woody tart nose and not much else. Coppery amber clear with lacing head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Watery tart with mild woody notes and medium acidity. Dry nutty finish with dry after.

Impressed with a mug of this on tap at the bocktown. barely any aroma, but what exists is a little metallic. Slightly darker than pale ale. A little more brown. Has some tartness in it fer sure. Leather at times. good co2. there is a slight bitterness that develops as the session continues. quite tasty fer sure, easy to like. enjoyed this brew and the finish was quite acceptable as well. good overall regional rate beer experience. mtbackma (7) - - MAY 3, 2013 does not count

Draft at Bocktown - Robinson. Pours a clear dark red color with a medium sized creamy head. Good head retention. Aroma of tart berries, citrus, caramel. Draft at Penn brew. Notes. Amber color. Medium head. Aromas of green apple, sweet molasses. Medium sweetness. Average carbonation. Light sour notes towards finish. Decent stuff.
