Bottle. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of sweet vanilla, roasted malt. Flavor is a little sweet for a schwarzbier with some bready malts. Pretty basic, plenty drinkable.

Black with a light brown head. Aroma is malts, with a little coffee and some light smokiness. Flavor is light, mainly a little sweet and sour malt with some hop presence in the finish. Overall, it’s a pleasant refreshing beer. Like most schwarzbier’s flavor without being too heavy for those who don’t like stouts and porters. jgb9348 (6434) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JUN 19, 2009
Deep dark brown coloured body with a cola glow when held to the light and a nice one centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of sour grapes, metal, malt, nuts, coffee and a bit of light hops as well - nice and complex. Medium-bodied; Roasted malt flavours up front with some light smoke, a bit of nuts and coffee in the taste and some subtle pit fruits to round out the flavour. Aftertaste shows some sour grapes, light sweetness and a potent malt that keeps hitting. Overall, a pretty well crafted beer, definitely one of the easier Schwarz’s I’ve had and pretty complex, considering it doesn’t stay harshly in the palate at all! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 11-June-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 18-June-2009. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 15, 2009
Bomber shared by Mike (Selltibet from beerinator) at the Carolina Crew gathering - thanks, dude! Body looks like a root beer float, albeit with less beige goodness floating on top. Overall a nice appearance, even if the palate wasn’t quite up to the same leve. Strong nose of roasted malts and anise in particular. The flavor is more balanced but still nicely spicy. I’d love to have a nice plate of meats and cheeses to go with this one - oh wait, I did! Thanks, Todd.

Pours black with thin brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and liquorice and some cinnamon. Medium bodied with chocolate, and roastiness with lighter lager characteristics. Finishes with a clean hop dryness. Interesting beer. My first schwartz. Good stuff. tgncc (3140) - Bellmore, New York, USA - JUN 3, 2009
Aroma of malts, toasted malt, nuts, and some smoke. The appearance is a red brown, tan head, very attractive. The flavor is malty, nutty, brown sugar, toffee. Te finish is sweet, with some mild hop bittering. Decent beer.
