Bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Light roasty aroma, with some cocoa and a hint of hops. The flavor is on the light side, but well balanced. Nutty roasted malts, with cocoa and some lingering hops. A hint of smoke reveals itself as the beer warms. Pretty good. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 25, 2009
Bomber thanks to dmac for sharing. Pours a nice deep dark brown with a creamy diminishing head. Aroma is a dark full chocolate with some fruits mixed in and nutty as well- light roast and a slight drying nutty char with some yeastiness to muck it up a bit. Flavor is also a mix of yeasty dough and chocolate malts, light roast and a big nutty toasted malt character- slight herbal and grassy hops in the end. Could be a good schwartz but it is a bit too murky and messed up - too much going on and not refined. dmac (6248) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - FEB 20, 2009
22oz bomber. Pours a medium chocolate brown with a small/average bubbly beige head. Strong chocolate notes on the aroma with some grassy hops and biscuit. Thin watery body with soft carbonation. Chocolate and toast on the flavor. Not very complex but good stuff. JK (6146) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - FEB 15, 2009
Black of course. Roasted malt and lager yeast, in the flavor and the aroma. Lots of yeast really. A little oak as well. TearsforBeers (183) - Ohio, USA - JAN 31, 2009
Thanks to mcox90 for this one!
Pours black that’s brown against light with disappearing off white head.
The aroma is nice, it’s lightly toasty and roasty, with some bread notes as well.
The flavor is lightly sweet, resembling the aroma with notes of toast, roast, and black bread.
The mouthfeel is slightly creamy and light bodied - feels right for a lager.
Overall this is a nice brew that appreciates - that is I like it more as I drink it.

MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering, January 10, 2009. Courtesy of Beastiefan2k. Black color with a thin head. No real aroma to be found. Light roasted and chocolate malt flavor. Drinkable. Skyview (6020) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JAN 23, 2009
Sampled from 22-oz bomber during MN Gathering II in Maplewood, MN and shared by beastiefan2k, pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of some dark caramel malt, a hint of chocolate and roasted nuts. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of roasted dark malt, light chocolate, bread crust and some roasted nuts. Finish is mildly light compared to most other schwarzbiers but still a solid dark lager overall. KAF (448) - Coralville, Iowa, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Bottle thanks to Beastiefan2k. Thin dark brown pour with no head. Wood on the nose with some bread and dark malts. The flavor brings the dark malt out more and mixes with some cocoa and dried fruit. beastiefan2k (3978) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - JAN 11, 2009
22oz bottle poured into a copita glass. Black color with a small white head. Aroma is lightly earthy with a well lagered roast. Taste is very clean with less of these direct aspects coming through, still there but light. Easy drinking, a fine Schwar, there aren’t too many as is, I could keep drinking this one for a while. Bottle sample. Aroma was barely noticable. Flavor was a little smoky and had a little noticable alcohol. An ok beer, not much more.
