Bomber shared at Scottyp’s housewarming tasting. Pours a very dark brown with clear mahogany highlights and fair light tan head. Nose of roast, and oats, and fades to chocolatey tones in the flavor. Some cardboard notes come out too, but this is still a fun beer. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Bottle shared by Mike. Thanks! Nose and flavor show some smoke, chalk, and roast. Nice and on point for the style. zach8270 (4021) - Henrietta, New York, USA - JUN 13, 2009

22oz bottle poured into a copita glass. Black color with a small white head. Aroma is lightly earthy with a well lagered roast. Taste is very clean with less of these direct aspects coming through, still there but light. Easy drinking, a fine Schwar, there aren’t too many as is, I could keep drinking this one for a while. Bomber shared by Mike (Selltibet from beerinator) at the Carolina Crew gathering - thanks, dude! Body looks like a root beer float, albeit with less beige goodness floating on top. Overall a nice appearance, even if the palate wasn’t quite up to the same leve. Strong nose of roasted malts and anise in particular. The flavor is more balanced but still nicely spicy. I’d love to have a nice plate of meats and cheeses to go with this one - oh wait, I did! Thanks, Todd. LilBeerDoctor (3997) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 31, 2009
Bottle. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of sweet vanilla, roasted malt. Flavor is a little sweet for a schwarzbier with some bready malts. Pretty basic, plenty drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of mcbackus. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Smokey roasted aroma. Flavors of caramel, roasted malts, some chocolate. Medium body with average carbonation. A nice schwarzbier that is easy to drink. beerbill (3619) - Laurel, New York, USA - JAN 10, 2010
22 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown, just about black, with a moderate cream colored head that lasted until mid-glass and left a film with each sip. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and just a hint of smokiness. The flavor has more roasted malt and a bit less cocoa than the aroma, along with some mild smoke. The flavors compliment one another quite well. Nice body without being heavy. Goes down way too easily. Enjoyable. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2009
The pour reveals a black color with brown highlights and a thin light brown head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Good flavor of roasted malt, and chocolate / coacoa. Very interesting and well-done.
