From a 1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle. It pours a dark brownish-black with littlle or no beige head. It has the look of a smoked porter. Aroma of malts, coffee, cocoa, and hops. Good mouth feel. Taste is malted chocolate with light, fresh hops. A dry finish. A very nice product. Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 8, 2008

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & garthicus - blankboy’s bottle. Deep ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma of charred malt, light smoke, and a slight & odd sourness. Flavour is very nice, with notes of fresh roasted coffee beans, cocoa, heavy cream, and mild smoke, with a moderately dry finish. Interesting beer that gives more than the aroma suggests. Had never seen this stuff until today. Very tasty lager and got more flavorful as it warmed up. Plan on trying some others by this brewer. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 26, 2008
Bottle at Joe’s tasting, drank right after the Black Cat Schwarz. This is not as good. Very vegetal, salty aroma. Mostly dark pour with a small head. Sucrose and veggie flavor, metallic, a bit thin. hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - MAR 29, 2010

dark woody brown pour with a lasting hot cocoa colored head.
big whiff of cocoa puffs followed by more chocolate, nutty caramel, earthy woody notes and possibly some coffee.
mix molasses to those characteristics and you get the flavor.
the body is thicker/richer than i’m used to in a schwarz but it gives it some depth... neat. 7/4/7/4/16/3.8 Maverick34 (3239) - New York, USA - NOV 27, 2008
