a bit sweet but this is balanced by the hops. nice dark color with dark sugars and chocolate in the nose. bombshelter (349) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 5, 2008
black, tinged red. caramel in the nose, some roast. body is pretty thin. caramel malts up front, and another just-barely noticable presence of roast in the finish. not bad. not great. nramsburg (259) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 27, 2008
Bottle, 650 ml.
Pours deep dark amber brown with a small, tan colored head. I agree with the previous reviewer -- smells of cured meat. Id add to this an aroma of wet grass.
Fairly full, creamy body. Quickly diminishes though. Notes of smoke up front, with a cream/milk middle, and a finish rounded out with hops.
Good beer and one of the best local Schwarzbiers Ive tried. McGarnigle (649) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 2, 2009
Bomber. Pours nearly opaque, and leaves some lacing behind in the glass. It’s a bit thin in the body, and maybe a little watery. Lager carbonation level affects the taste. Very faint chocolate malt notes. More treble than bass. Not as good as it looks. Suttree (6358) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 21, 2010
bottle courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Black (or schwarz, if you will), with a ring of foam. Faint aroma, a mix of coffee and tar ( in a good way) with notes of I dunno, more coffee. Flavor is mellow coffee and maybe a touch of chocolate. Very clean and crisp.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2008 Bottle... Post RBSG ’08 O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Chapter 8... Clear, very dark lager with little to no head. Chocolaty nose. Light to medium-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Well-balanced and a touch chocolaty, but watery and bland. Finishes weak and fairly nondescript. Thanks to mcbackus for providing the bottle! DalzAle (2036) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - JAN 11, 2009
Bottle sample. Aroma was barely noticable. Flavor was a little smoky and had a little noticable alcohol. An ok beer, not much more. jb43 (1650) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - FEB 11, 2011
(bomber from mcox90, 5/8/10). Black color. Medium tan head. Light roasted malt aroma. Moderate roasted malt flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish. Thin/slick texture. Soft to moderate carbonation. Fair lacing. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - SEP 25, 2008
Thanks to Josh for sharing this one. Pours a deep brown with amber notes and a small creamy off white head. Aroma of iced tea, malty graininess, toasted malt, earthy, light smoke and molasses. Flavor of light smoke, grainy malts, pretzels and toasted malt. ScottyP (425) - Brentwood, Tennessee, USA - SEP 3, 2009
Pours a dark brown with beige head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, malts. Similar taste, some hops in the finish.. Nothing exciting here.
