3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
III...really really enjoyable hop aroma. Just so appealing. That really sat the table for this beer. It has a nice sweet hop taste with that Belgian kick then a late bitterness hit that stuck on mouth. Definitely benifited from a little glass time just chilling. Good. I'd like a steady supply of hoppy saisons and ipa/pales from Tom up there. Mmmmmmm

Cloudy! Nice aroma and a really nice safe Belgian IPA. My wife really likes it and think because it is hoppy but in offensively so. On tap at Basil's in Aurora.

On tap, poured into a snifter. The aroma is a fresh and juicy mango with a floral and pine note. It smells fresh, clean, and bright with a hint of cough syrup late. It pours a brilliant orange amber hue with a dense, white soapy foam head that has good retention and lace. The beer is a medium bitter up front with a medium sweet towards the end. The texture is oily and smooth with a fuzzy carbonation and a surprisingly medium full body. Notes of cough syrup, toffee. bread, and citrus hit the palate with a finish that’s crisp and clean with notes of pine and spice. The aftertaste is dry with a pizza crust flavor, strong, bitter pine and a clean wood. nuplastikk (6289) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 3, 2015
Tap at Penrose. Hazy golden orange body. Big foamy off-white head. Pleasant mango-citrus in the aroma. Quite a well balanced Belgian IPA, with enough hops to balance out the big yeast tones. Pretty much everything you could want for the style, but lacks any traits that really throw it over the top. Grounded. Fruity depth. Well done. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2015
On tap at the Penrose 1st Anniversary Party (Geneva, IL). Pours a deep amber hazy hue, a good darker body with cakey offwhite head atop. A nice thicker layer with good retention and lacing. Soapy thick head atop sticks around, laces well. Aromas are bitter and hoppy, nice floral kick, citrus rind and earth meet bready malts, earth, gentle fruity ester and earth meet some pear, earth, spicy Belgian yeast. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, firmer soap and florals provide a medium bitterness, earth, some bready malts and earth. Touches of florals, rind and bitterness meet some bread, gentle fruity ester. Some gentle kisses of sweeter dough, fruit and bready malts, cereal elements show life. Bitter florals and citrus rind make a return. That Belgian yeasty life brings home the bacon in the middle, spicy and fruity, some gentle toastiness and bitter qualities roll into a more bitter hop driven backend and finish. Touches of bread, bitter earthy hops and gentle sweetness, lingering fruit, firm florals, jabs of citrus. Overall, I think this has a touch more body and sweetness than I’m looking for and I’m just not into the whole Belgian thing that creates that... All that being said the hop element here comes rushing back in time to make this a pretty nice beer overall that flows in a very distinct way. At the Daily. Piney, but not very Belgiany. A odd after taste with the hops a bit bitter melon? Overall OK. Serving: Tap

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and dispensed to a Czech-pils glass showing a clear, orangey gold color, with a frothy layer of off white head foam, and nice cling to the curtains & spots of lacing. The nose was initially, lightly dank, then uplifted with notes of pine, citrus as grapefruit & orange, and mango. The esters continued as the taste provided fair carbonation in a medium body, with moderate earth & rind bitterness that started to weigh a little heavy on the palate toward the finish. Not a lot of Belgian influence, imo, but decently flavorful. raoul_duke (240) - - JAN 11, 2015
Nice foamy white head. Golden and straw appearance. Lots of carbonation. Nice hop flavor with citrus and spice on the end. A bit of a funk on the aftertaste. Christpuncher (3135) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2015
Starts fruity and ends hoppy and bitter. You can really taste the belgium yeasts in this one. Not my style of beer. Pours cloudy orange in color. Had our of a bottle at home. Smells like belgium yeast.

Fairly clear, deep copper color with a frothy off-white head. A bit of pine, some floral tones, but heavy on the caramel malt. Bitter, malty, lively carb, somewhat oily, and medium-bodied. Long lingering bitter finish. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 28, 2014
355ml bottle. Light golden pour. Quite mild on the ipa front with minerals, some grain, nice spice, and a finishing citrus/pine. It doesn’t go over the op, it is rather subtle, but it is drinkable.
