Pours deep dark brown to black with a thin mocha head. Nose is toast, some chocolate, some earthy grassy hop notes, perhaps a bit of tree bark. Taste is fairly sweet but there’s some bitterness to balance: it’s really quite well balanced overall. Palate is definitely medium bodied, pretty rich but not too heavy, maybe a touch oily, with a pleasant toasty finish. A nice brew, one to sip on and enjoy but smooth enough to knock back if that’s your thing. Good stuff. Block (2688) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - SEP 27, 2012
I thought this was a great beer to do nitro. The beer already has a lot of sweet malts, caramel, and alcohol. The nitro definitely adds body and creaminess. Really nice.wnoble (1251) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 6, 2012

Brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is light and sweet. Light body and flavor. Not as malty as I had expected.
Pours deep deep brown or almost deep red with a very small light brown head. Flowery hops, roasted malts, chocolate, bread, caramel and toffee aromas. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, mild caramels, toffee, bready malts with some light biscuity and/or toasted notes again with flowery and almost some very light citrus notes and some fruitiness. Medium dry finish with medium light bitterness to balance. Medium light body for what I was expecting from a 7% brown. Liked it but could have used some more body and richer, thicker feel and flavor. Draft at People’s. Pours a coppery brown with a persistent off white head. The nose is caramelly, somewhat bland. Some English yeast notes. Faint cocoa? On tasting, moderately bitter with a caramelly quality. Also a bit winey. Some strange astringency distracts. An odd brown ale overall, really. Maverick34 (3206) - New York, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Bottled. Pours a dark brown. Smallish tan head. Coffee and chocolate malt. Weighty without being too heavy.

Bottle. Nutty milk chocolate malt aroma. Brown with a small tan head. Roasty coffee and chocolate malt flavor with a light to moderate herbal bitter finish. Medium creamy body. burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2012
12 ounce bottle pours a coca-cola brown color, light aroma of chocolate, nuts, sweet malt, and some caramel. Flavors are the same, rather dialed down on booziness for over 7% abv, decent brown ale and would drink agaim. HoppyAlesToYou (167) - Saint John, Indiana, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Slight caramel, chocolate, and nuts in the aroma that rises off the small tan head that rests atop a dark brown ale. The taste is sweet followed by an earthy bitterness, very well balanced. An enjoyable brown ale, but not really worthy of four-pack treatment. shrubber85 (11324) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 13, 2012
Bottle. Lactic chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Sweet chocolate coffee malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Full body. Very nice - a great brown ale. dumontn (530) - St. Joseph, Michigan, USA - APR 7, 2012
Pours clear brown with a tight and perfect nitro head. Aroma is nuts, toast, caramel. Taste is nutty caramel, cocoa, toasty finish, definetly some Goldings hops for sweetness. Body is medium, creamy, long nutty finish. Overall, an enjoyable brew.
