A - Black with a red/copper hue. Tan head that was pretty thick and stuck around.
S - Lots of roasted barley
T - Not nearly as hoppy as expected. Had a very balanced flavor with a subtle hop bitterness and good coffee/malt flavor.
M - Very thick and creamy (probably more so because of the nitro).
D - Not nearly as harsh as most Black IPA’s I’ve had and bonus points for the name. I hope to try this on CO2 so I can take it home in my growler next time.

Bottle. Vanilla caramel malt and pine/grapefruit peel aroma. Dark chestnut with large tan head. Sweet chocolate caramel malt and moderately bitter pine/orange peel flavor. Very nicely blended. Very tasty. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 12, 2012
Draft at People’s. Pours, well, black with a pale tan head that persists. Nose is freshly hoppy and very clean. Faint caramel and toast in the nose. Lots of citrus and floral. On tasting, clean and sturdy malt profile. Lots of citrusy hops dominate, medium-high bitterness. Really clean overall and enjoyable. Nice Black IPA. patrick767 (4063) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 15, 2012
tap at Brewhaven festival - This near black colored beer has an aroma mainly of roasted malt with hops lurking in the background. The flavor features ample bitterness with roasted malt and citrus tastes leading into a long, bitter finish. It’s medium to full bodied and quite well done. valpoaj (742) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - MAR 8, 2013
draft pour in west laf...black with a thin tan head. aroma somewhat muted, but what there is pleasant and actually quite malty with some citrus notes in the background. flavor is quite tasty...sweet malts up front transition into some citrus hop flavors and end with a solid, but not overwhelming bitterness. palate is smooth and above average for the style...lingering bitterness was nice with an oily touch. although nothing to date has been particularly memorable from this brewery, this was one I’d return to and makes me want to give some new ones a try.

Bottle. Roasty coffee, light chocolate, and fresh minty hops aroma. Black brown with a large thick creamy tan head. Earthy roasty malt with subdued minty grapefruit peel hops flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very nice malt forward black IPA. 574deadzone (1415) - North Central, Indiana, USA - OCT 11, 2013
Another fucking hilarious label from People’s. Pours dark brown/black with a fair khaki head that settles to a ring and leaves lots of spotty lace. Nose involves a nice clean hop profile, pine and some tropical fruit, along with dark chocolate and a lightly roasted character. Fairly sweet, a wee bit tart, and quite bitter. Lighter side of medium bodied, oily, softer carb, with a nice drying roasted hop finish. Nice and enjoyable, not over the top but not lacking either. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - JAN 18, 2014
On tap, pours black with an off white head and lacing in the glass, the aroma was of fresh hops and citrus with a little bit of chocolate and roast as well, the flavor has a hoppy front end with some tropical fruit and citrus with a finish of roast, nicely balanced. hotstuff (5140) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 12, 2014
Rated on 10-26-2014 (Bottle) The appearance is a very small tan head, hazy black brown body fast rising carbonation, and no lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and citrus hops. The flavor is lightly bitter, citrus hops and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and is worth trying. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - AUG 26, 2012
8/11/12. GTMW. Medium black/dark brown pour with a nice tan head. Citrusy, hoppy aroma along with touches of roast, mainly coffee in essence. Nice malty entry with plenty of coffee and roast, followed by plenty of citrusy hops. Tasty enough!
