Deep brown color almost like a Coca- cola. Small ring of off-white head. Light lace. Nose of molasses and malt. Taste is very similar to aroma. Very thin mouthfeel, light bodied, however there is no lack in flavor. Very easy to drink. Surprised its out in the summer, but not disappointed that it is. Very good! Would buy again!

Big, malty and roast aroma - pretty nice coming off the run of Nashoba brews that I just ingested. Very dark. Clean label. Sweet, raisiny, not very bitter, plummy. Sweet on the lips. Not terribly complex, but good. Thanks to LuckyDog. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 17, 2011
A - Pours a fairly dark red-brown color with a half-finger of off-white head. The head faded fairly quickly to a ring leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is full of lightly-roasted carmel malts with some nuttiness. There is also some sweet brown sugar and some hop in the background.
T - Starts off pretty sweet. There is the carmel malts that hit right away, and also some additional background sweetness from the brown sugar and also some vanilla. There is additionally some deeper nutty elements. Through the middle a hit of brown sugar really comes out with some strong sweetness. The finish has a mix of the carmel malts, some sweetness, and some coffee flavor. A little bit too sweet overall.
M - Medium bodied with a moderate amount of assertive carbonation. Just a tad watery but still very creamy and very smooth. The finish feels a bit thicker, almost a tad syrupy.
D - Very drinkable. The sweetness can be a bit much after a while, but the taste overall is really nice. The finish is really nice. A bit more balance with the sweetness could help a lot. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - MAY 7, 2010
Bottle in Northfield, MA. Medium brown body with oily head. Nose of malts and caramel. Taste of malts, quite oily texture. Slight bitterness in the finish. Quite good. jcwattsrugger (12427) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAY 21, 2009
on tap-pours a light brown head and dark brown color with red tint. Aroma is sweet dark malt-molasses/chocolate, dark fruit-raisin. Taste is sweet dark malt-molasses/chocolate, dark fruit-raisin/cherry with some tart. Dry over takes sweet by mid-palate. Taste not up to aroma for me. 3.2

Pours a three finger light tan head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Almost black cloudy mahogany color. Roasted malt nose. Light-medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Flavor is malty, smooth, not overly sweet - decent brown. $3.55 for a 22oz bottle from Ruggeri & Sons Greenfield, MA. georgekappus (296) - Brookfield, Connecticut, USA - APR 18, 2008
Bottle. Pours black with a moderate tan head. Bubbles that coat the glass. Aroma of cherries, nuts, and cotton candy. Taste was sweet but not overwhelming with a nutty malty backbone. Thick mouthfeel. Sammy (12329) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 15, 2007
This was unique. An ENglish mild. Winey aroma and colour, with merlot taste. Yet there was no wine barreling. Very little bitterness, and a tad of syrupiness. Very light body and easy drinking at 5.2%. A wine replacement. hophead75 (2012) - Largo, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2007
sampled at the brewpub. brown with some red highlights. The aroma and taste both comprise caramel and chocolate. Taste also has some nutty malts. pretty smooth. not a bad brown ale. mstockton (225) - Frankfurt, GERMANY - FEB 17, 2007
Not the usual smooth brown ale that I have had before. Pours quite dark with little head. Malty and has some bitterness. Not my favorite brown ale.
