22 oz BOTTLE!: Deep ruddy brown. Small light tan head, quickly diminishing. Sweet malts, in the aroma and up front, faint toffee, nutty, roasty grain, pleasant mouthfeel, finishing with subtle hopping, and an alcohol dryness. Very clean, very drinkable. Its very nice to see these guys finally bottling. Some of their brews are just delicious. Hoping to see more from these painfully nice brewers! beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 6, 2005
Pours a murky brown color with almost no head. Strong aroma and flavor of dark malt with some lingering sweetness. vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 29, 2004
On tap at the Pint. Has a very dark brown color with some carbonation and little head. Smell is of sweet malts. Taste is also of sweet malts/roasted/smoked and finishes with a slight hop bitterness. Overall a very good beer. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 16, 2004
Brown with ruby highlights in color and a small white head. Earthy and woody aroma liek they shoveled in the dirt from the farm too.Flavor is chocolately and spicy hops, stsrts sweet and finishes roasty. ToadMan (559) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - APR 28, 2004

On tap. It's dark cloudy brown with small head. Aroma is of sweet malt and sugar with a little nuttiness. Taste is VERY sweet with a lot of left over sugars. Malty enough to have a flavor underneath the sugar. Pretty good brown ale, but I need to remember this should be a dessert beer. Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 8, 2003
Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head with little lacing. Sweet, almost to sweet, rootbeer like malt aroma. Slightly sweet malt flavor with rootbeer like notes and a very slight hoppiness. Medium bodied and very smooth. MaBeer1972 (2141) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 31, 2003
A very different "brown" than I am used to. Very dark almost purplish color. The flavor is very malty... malts rule here! Can't beat that brewpub-fresh taste either! muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 15, 2002
Very nutty, sweet, and full. Reminds me of why I used to love brown ales so much. Wish I could say more, but I was getting pretty wasted by the end of this tasting session...suffice it to say that this was above average for this above average brewpub.
