Bottle. Pitch black pour, no light passing thru at all, under a one inch tight bubbled brown head. The nose is heavy roast and burnt coffee, rather thick and sweet smelling. Big, huge roasted malt flavor with lots of burnt notes and thankfully, minimal sweetness. Pretty well hidden alcohol as well. The mouthfeel is super thick and full with a thick creamy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Very nice Imperial Stout, lots of flavor and body without being overly alcoholic or beating you over the head with sweetness. hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 27, 2011

reddish brownish black with a soft tan head and drippy lacing.
big dank hoppy aroma... behind that are notes of chocolate, barrel qualities, spice, caramel, roast, grass and a little smoke.
the flavor is the same... very tasty with a dry finish.
thinnish bodied but very quaffable. 8/4/8/3/16 mcberko (17840) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 12, 2011
12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany!), split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of licorice, smoked malt, wood, whiskey, unsweetened dark cocoa, and some sweetness. Flavour of leather, wood, smoked malt & peat, dark cocoa, and slight licorice. Silky, oily texture, with a leathery finish. Very solid. Matts_Property (837) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 12, 2011

2009 Bottle, Number 1112 (Hand Written):
Very dark brown coloured body with a thin, fast-dying brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, a ton of hops, pine, alcohol, peat and a bunch of anise - nice and strong. Full-bodied; Chewy malty, chocolatey and coffee flavours really come through with an almost meal-like thickness - crazy! Very sweet aftertaste with a touch of vanilla pods, caster sugar, milk chocolate and a good rich oaky flavour. Overall, a very nice beer that is more like a chocolate pie than a beer - very deep and luscious with a thick feel, very nice! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 15-June-2011 in celebration of the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup (I’m not a Boston fan, but I’m glad they beat Vancouver!) in 2011. peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 9, 2011
’09 bottle courtesy a BA trader. Pours with a short frothy tan head that quickly fades to a slick. Aroma is roast, coffee, licorice, raisin/cherry, chocolate, and a very small amount of oxidization. While memory of smell is imprecise this smells quite like the ’10 kate i had a few months back. Smooth feel in the mouth with roasted chocolate, coffee, oat, and a bit of trailing dark fruit/alcohol whisper through the finish. Slightest bit of oxidization in the middle of the taste profile but it neither adds to or detracts from the quality of the beer. I like this beer - very solid and enjoyable imperial stout.
