Appearance is dark brown with non existent foam cap. Aroma is dark fruit, clove, raisin. Taste is caramel malt, burnt sugar, pepper, and a distinct tart/sour character. Very similar to a Flanders brown as opposed to a quad. Mouthfeel is a little thin and light for a quad, with low carbonation. Finishes with caramel sweetness and a slight tartness.
Deep brown pour with a thin off white head and light lacing .... Aroma of sour fruits, dark fruits figs, grapes, plums and some light roasted malts .... Taste is slightly sweet and sour and tart ... Dark fruits, grapes, plums, figs and roasted malts .... Has some candi sugar in there as well .... Body is thin and the finish is mildly tart and sour with lingering dark fruit flavors .... From notes. Tasted in December 2012 from a capped 750mL bottle. Pours nearly black, dark brown with an average tan head that leaves average lace. The nose is malty with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, a hint of vanilla, and a nice fruity, leathery black currant note. The flavor has some dried fruity sweetness up front, moving to all of the darker, more bitter dark chocolate, roasted coffee and touch of vanilla. This poured a deep red to brown with a beige head. Aroma was of dark fruit skins, grape juice, Belgian yeast and dark candy sugar. Flavor is dark fruit up front, very light fruity tart tang,.Belgian yeast and a chocolatey finish. Draft notes from Capone’s. Pours chestnut with 1-finger tan head. Nose was roasty, earthy vienna malt, fig, cacao, brown sugar. Tasted earthy malty, with some fig and tart berry flavor at the finish.

Pours dark unclear with a purple hue for the currants and a very small amount of grayish. Aroma brings no currants, no sweet or sour prevalence, just faint berry. Flavor brings light pleasant fruit with some tart settling on, a bit of grapes, and then the ending is a bit abrasive in an unpleasant way. Body is clean and lighter than expected.
