Cloudy gold pour, white head. Sage is present but subdued perfectly, the pears play well with the yeast and sage...hints of sweet and tart. Incredibly well constructed IMO. Enjoyable. maus10 (49) - Arkansas, USA - OCT 31, 2013
The aroma is sweet and smells of pear juice and the pear skin. There's a tartness to it that is almost citrusy appleish.
You definitely taste the pear, with a bit of dry grapefruit tart and bitterness. The white sage is very subtle.
Overall this beer is outstanding and has me hoping its a sign of things to come for both Penrose and Perennial!

Bottle. Almost golden, almost burnt orange. Bit fizzy, but not much of a head. The aroma hints at applesauce, but once onto the tongue, this definitely has a tart pear character, super green pears at that. The sage adds a funky little herbal edge. Quite unique. UPDATED: MAY 21, 2015 At Fountainhead. Delightful beer. Hides the strength well. Light somewhat crisp fruity beer with a slight sour twist at the end. Serving: Tap vyvvy (6834) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 28, 2013
Pours hazy dull orange with a dense off-white head. The aroma really shows the white sage and pear - very clean and natural. There are also some banana esters, thick chewy malt, red apples, earthiness and the Belgian yeast slant. It has a medium / full body that has some heft, but not too weighty and there is light sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with fruity and caramel malt, pepper, pear, sage and a fruit juice aspect. The finish is dry, fruity and spicy. Really nice and does a good job of hiding the 9.3% abv.

On tap at Hops and Pie poured a cloudy gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of straw, pear, citrus and a hint of sage. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of straw, pear, light citrus, light barnyard funk and a hint of sage with a crisp dry lightly tart lingering pear finish. Dogbrick (14288) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 31, 2013
Sample at Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar. Pours a hazy copper-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sage, fruit and yeast. Medium to full body with an herbal character and flavors of fruity yeast and malt. The finish is fruity up front with a white sage aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
