750ml bottle: pours an oily opaque with dense froth of beige head. Has a rich sweet dark caramel and chocolate nose with some dark fruits. Starts with good rich fullness and chewy dark caramel sweetness with lots of raisins and molasses with a touch of warming spice in the finish. Has good complexity and should age well.

Pours our black & oily. Pitch black in the glass. Small but dense dark-brown head. Rich aromas of cocoa and cinnamon with subtle peppers and booze in the back. Huge bittersweet cocoa flavors dominate the palate; cinnamon & a bit of peppers in the middle. Finishes with booze and even more dark, acidic cocoa. Super thick, milky, and smooth body; no carbonation; finishes dry and hot. Ridiculously drinkable and delicious. The hype is real!

Unexpectedly, this is one of the best beers Ive ever had, and the best Ive had in at least a year. Draft at Mikkeller Bar SF. Black with a mocha head that sticks around and leaves a thick ring. Aroma is amazing, cocoa, cinnamon sticks, roast, only mild molasses. Flavor is an amazing balance of sweet chocolate, bitter coffee grounds, and a restrained but noticeable chile heat. Incredibly soft and smooth feel with the booze very well hidden. Supreme drinkability for the style. Wow. Have had too many crap impy stouts recently and this reminded me what a great example of the style can truly be. Only problem is that its from my arch nemesis city (if a city can be that) of St. Louis, which is a hellhole cesspool of a place, but hey, at least they have at least one good beer.

Pours black, small grey head. Smell is intense, spice, cinnamon. bit of peppers. Taste is intense, some chili ( but balanced ) some cinnamon ( on the virge of too much ) Nice mouthfeel, big intensity. Nice. Perhaps on the border a bit, but still very good.

Inky black pour with a thin tan cap. Nice dark nose with roast and cocoa and a light bit of cinnamon. Smooth huge flavor with cinnamon and a light gentle bit of spice with deep dark cocoa and roasted sweet dark malt. Pretty amazing. Like a chocolaty and bigger version of Copper Kettle Mexican Chocolate Stout.

2016 bottle shared. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige foam that lingers. Cinnamon, cacao nib, vanilla, Yoo-hoo and chili on the nose. Just never ends really, some fudge brownie as it warms up. Mexican chocolate cake. Cacao and creamy oatmeal on the palate. Allspice finish with chocolate milk. Just coats the palate and lingers on. This is one lives up to the hype. Great stuff.

Draught. Pitch black coloured. Dense brown head. Aroma. Roast, chocolate, spice, liqourice, cocoa, vague herbs. Flavour. Roast, chocolate, cocoa, cinnammon, liqourice, cramel, alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Ends roasted bitter with a nice chili bite and warmning alcohol on lips and palate. Chili not overwhelming, but quite pleasant and subdued.
