750 ml bottle shared by phaleslu. Pours black in color with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor have a big rich coffee component that even covers the barrel to an extent. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, earth, wood tannins, some bourbon, with decent coffee bitterness to the finish. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Only knock was the body was a touch on the thin side. beernbourbon (1609) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - OCT 28, 2013
Bottle. Pour is insanely thick black with a small tan head. Looks sinister. Aroma is loaded with chocolate brownie, faint toffee, and notable coffee. Rich. Flavor is chocolate brownie and coffee up front with a long vanilla/ caramel/ toffee finish. The finish lasts for minutes. Not surprisingly, the coffee becomes more pronounced as it warns but it is so much more in-balance now than when it was fresh. Also, surprisingly drinkable. dogfish120love (1364) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 10, 2013
Pours a dark brown. Bursting with coffee and chocolate aromas some whiskey notes.perfect amount of sweetness. Sticky mouth feel. Treebs (872) - , Illinois, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Had on tap at Local Option. Served in a 10 oz. snifter. Enjoyed a few pours of this guy.
A: Pours a dark, inky black color with a dark tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin head leaves some soapy lace down the glass.
S: Fresh ground coffee beans. Some espresso, chocolate and light roast. Very light barrel notes in the background, but this is straight coffee.
T: The barrel thankfully comes out a little more in the taste. Some caramel sweetness and light oak. Minimal bourbon notes mix with the chocolate bitterness and of course, the coffee. Big Espresso and coffee bean notes. Freshly ground without being overly sharp or acidic in nature.
M: Medium to heavy bodied with a medium low carbonation level. Chewy and silky across the palate with a smooth finish.
O: A really nice coffee stout. It needs some more barrel notes to bring it into the upper echelon of BA coffee stouts, but it was still really good.
Serving type: on-tap

Pours black with low light brown head. Good lacing. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, sugar. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, bitter. Palate: Full bodied. Overall: Good. A bit rough in the finish. Roast bitterness is harsh.

Pour is black with a thick moka head that dissipates quite fast and doesn’t leave much lacing. Aroma is loaded with coffee, light ash, you can almost feel the beans too (so lightly vegetal). Taste is roasty, spicy and bitter. There is also a light alcohol tingle. Full bodied and creamy. This is a nice imperial coffee stout! tom10101 (6342) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 18, 2013
Bottle (750 ml). Thanks to Mark for this one! Black with a medium fully lasting beige head and good lacing. Aroma is complex, but dominated by harsh coffee notes. There’s also bourbon, vegetal notes, cacao, boozy notes, nuts and caramel. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with a lot of coffee again (but not as harsh as in the aroma) with bourbon, spices, cacao, alcohol and light vegetal notes. Full bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. That is a really complex brew and the taste is really interesting, but I think the coffee is a little too harsh, which doesn’t help the balance. Like Abraxas/BA Abraxas, this in an extreme beer from Perennial. Still enjoyable though. czar (9802) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 18, 2013
pours very dark brown with a thick beige head, good retention and lacing. intense ground coffee and burnt hazelnuts, vegetal green peppers, ashes, smoke - char, burnt fruity caramel, vanilla. moderate carbonation, medium body, bitter coffee and lightly resinous finish. nice. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 10, 2013
Bottle, huge thanks to Corey from Perennial for bringing this bottle to share at the CK Perennial cask event! Rich, thick black pour, bubbly brown head. Nose and flavor are absolutely rife with gigantic coffee, espresso, charred wood, truffle center, bittersweet chocolate, and hints of earthen loam. Stunningly rich and complex palate, silky and bold on the mouthfeel. Not quite BA Abraxas, but absolutely another dark masterpiece from Perennial. savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - AUG 21, 2013
750ml bottle from Vince, thanks for this one! Pours thick and black with a thick, deep tan head. Aroma of rich dark chocolate fudge, coffee, bourbon, molasses and light roasty malt. Flavor is more bitter dark chocolate, smooth coffee, oak and boozy bourbon with a hint of bitter black malt. Full body with a super smooth mouth feel. Wow, is beer is so good, very rich and flavorful but still drinkable.
