Wow! Pours black with tan head. Aromas of strong coffee and flavors to follow with some roast. I haven’t found a better coffee ba beer! Give me more! jandd1983 (4764) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Sampled at DLD 2013. It poured a brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was of tons of coffee with the barrel aging left behind. The taste was more of the same, lots of coffee with the bourbon barrel character and some fruit. This was an awesome barrel-aged coffee stout. Very well done. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 28, 2013
Rating I forgot to enter from pre-hunahpus tasting. Wow what a freaking brew! Dark black pour, brown head. Awesome coffee, awesome bourbon, oak, rich brownie batter. All I can say is that I need to drink this again(and again) crossovert (14363) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 18, 2013 Draft. Big coffee presence, bourbon is there but subdued. Cocoa and roasted barley notes. BCBCS clone. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 27, 2013
UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 750ml bottle thanks to JCP for the opportunity... Pours a deeper shade of black, silky with reddish edges and topped with a creamy beige head... Aroma of coffee and bourbon to pair along with a vanilla tannin. Nice aroma...
Flavors are more of the same with semi-sweet nature throughout. A fair bit thin overall from a body and mouthfeel perspective but the vanilla soft barrel and roasted coffee notes lighter than medium bodied with lighter level of carbonation. Solid flavor profile while lacking a thicker more full consistency.

Sampled at the Hampton. Black. So much coffer in this stout. Roadted notes, too. Grass. Really good. BMan1113VR (7930) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 25, 2013
Bottle shared at work. Pours with a inky black hued body with a tan head and great lace. Aromas are bourbon, huge coffee, intensely mineral coffee character, earthy, almost a bit dank, biscotti toasted malt profile. Flavors are strongly toasted and biscuity malt (biscotti like), bready, barrel, coffee, light oak and cola. Lasting malty impression. Thick and boozy mouthfeel. Pretty darn decent. phaleslu (11077) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2014 750 ml bottle shared by jckp64- thanks, John! Badass label; black skull logo on black matte. Black wax. Love it. Pours a deep, opaque brown color - as intimidating as the label - with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of massive coffee, loads and loads, with the barrel notes taking a backseat. Certainly some roast and chocolate in there, and faint vanilla and earth. The flavor has more of the same; gigantic coffee character, secondary bourbon barrel character, and a bit of dark fruit, as well. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Great barrel-aged coffee stout. Hope you like coffee. I only do in beer, for some reason, and this works for me anyway. Re-Rate: Even better than I remember. The 2014 version is next-level deliciousness. So rich and smooth and balanced. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 18, 2013 Sampled at the CCB/RateBeer/Pre-Hunah Tasting (Tampa, FL). Pours a rich inky black pour, dark and ominous, thick with legs, a nice frothy tannish head atop laces well. Big darker body. Aromas are rich and lush, big coffee presence, cocoa, mellow barrel. Huge espresso and coffee feel. Fudgy, roasty, rich flavors. Gentle barrel, nice. Initial is a bit thin, rich coffee presence offers espresso, earth, roast, some coffee. More earth, a bit thin, middle offers roast, some toffee, caramel, and toast. Gentle spirit, more vanilla, cocoa, some mocha. Backend is dry, roasty, gentle barrel. A bit thin but rich dominating coffee flavor. Tasty but a bit underbodied after the barrel. Nice. ReRate: On Tap At Local Option. More focus of fresh roasty coffee, mocha, and firm barrel presence this time around. Full on the palate but not overwhelming, somr really nice roasty coffee presence, espresso and a bit of fudge. Really tasty stuff. Bumped up Overall. Still a touch thin on the palate, but a really nice beer overall. tkrjukoff (4334) - SWEDEN - MAR 11, 2013
Bottle. Pours pitch black with a small dark tanned bubbly head. Aroma is roasted chocolate coffee a bit acidy and ashy dryish. Flavor is similar to the aroma, nearly fullbodied mouthfeel has some fruityness and balanced bitterness leaving a good pungent bitter coffee touch on the finish.
