Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2012 - Pours dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma has muddied chocolate, toasted malt and minor Belgian maltiness. Medium body that is kinda smooth with soft carbonation. The taste is quite tart and roasty with dark berries. The finish is on the vinegar sour side. Good sessionable beer. beernbourbon (1596) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - AUG 1, 2012
Tap at Belgian festival. Pour is deep brownish red with a small ring of tan foam. Aroma and flavor deep with hints of dried fruit and a deep fruity sweetness. Also light tart notes and faint distant roasty flavor. Certainly a bit more sweet than sour but a nice balanced offering overall. jcnielsen (3413) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Sour flavor with sweet/roasty, plum notes. Very sour forward beer. phaleslu (10462) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Draft sample at MWBBF. Pours an opaque, hazy dark brown with a tan ring for a head. Aroma of roasted malts, cherries, plums, toast, and caramel. I’m definitely seeing what Jim meant when he said this was made from the run-off of a stout. The flavor is more sour than the nose, with some cherries, plums, balsamic, toasted and roasted malts, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with a sweet and sour mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Really interesting beer. Fun experiment, and well done.
