Dark brown to black pour with a tan head. The aroma has some nice chocolate, coconut and roasted malt. The flavor is similar. The chocolate and roasted malt notes go very well with the coconut, brown sugar and boozy character. Pour on tap, dark brownish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, coffee into a bit of soy sauce, booze, touch of acidic malt, slight smoky ash as well. Tasted in July 2013 from a capped 750mL bottle that Adam and I picked up during a baseball trip in St. Louis. Pours black with an average brown head that leaves average lace. The nose is super roasty with dark chocolate, coffee, and a bit of a soy sauce note. The flavor is sweet coconut up front with some milk chocolate, roast, and a soy sauce note suggesting oxidation or infection. The body is full with average carbonation and a long, almost sour, sweet and roasted finish. Pour is black with a tight mocha head. Nose is heavy roast with a moderate sugary sweetness and a faint coconut touch. Taste is less roast but far more sweet. The coconut is more present and there is still some roast up front. The sweetness is overpowering and sugary. Full bodied and strong carbonation with an oily slick feel.
