3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle purchased at Binny’s Grand. Poured into my Portsmouth tulip glass. Pours a pitch black in color with a fingers worth of head cocoa colored head. The beer has a surprisingly good head retention. Pretty complex nose, though it isn’t great. I get chocolate malt, cocoa, toasted marshmallow, some light coconut, and just the smallest amount of the lactose. There is something there that is a little "off", but I can’t put my finger on what it is. This started out tasting strictly like a milk stout, but as I continue to drink it, I can definitely get the coconut. Once it warms a little, it reminds me of an almond joy. In addition to chocolate and coconut, I get a little cinnamon. Moderate mouthfeel, some astringency, light sweetness, lightly boozy, and a moderate finish. Pretty solid effort from Perennial, I really like what they’re doing.
Taste: robust semi sweet malt, coconut, chocolate, lactose, brown sugar, molasses. same with the nose. Reddish/black hue, mostly opaque, tan head with ring of lattice. Medium/Full body. Non sticky mouthfeel. willisread (3546) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a motor-oil colored, pitch black with a half a finger of foam that lingers. Dark cacao nib, coconut bars all over the nose....mounds bar. Candied, dried coconut flavor on the palate really stands out. Straight up tastes like a Mounds candy bar. Chewy coconut and cacao. Smooth and would go nice with dessert. Super well executed. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JUN 21, 2016

Dark brown to black pour with a tan head. The aroma has some nice chocolate, coconut and roasted malt. The flavor is similar. The chocolate and roasted malt notes go very well with the coconut, brown sugar and boozy character. Medium carbonation and thick mouthfeel. gregwilsonstl (2615) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 8, 2015
Dark black. No head. Lots of sweet coconut, but like coconut sugar, not like coconut pie. Kind of creamy. Very smooth. Nice amount of chocolate cutting through. Thx Carter. SudsMcDuff (8468) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - APR 24, 2015

Pour on tap, dark brownish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, coffee into a bit of soy sauce, booze, touch of acidic malt, slight smoky ash as well. Taste was a mix of ash, cocoa, roast into some anise, soy sauce, finishing sweet, slightly acidic.
