[Draft glass @ Gollem] I always find it comical when USA brewers make Belgian Strong Dark Ales with dark fruits, raisins in this case. I always imagine them drinking something like Rochefort & going wow I can taste raisins & figs in this. You know what we should do is brew something like this & add actual figs and raisins … It is just so Spinal Tap & USA craft to do things like this. Anyway… Pours very dark ruby amber with creamy lightly tanned head. Nose is very sweet Christmas cake, raisins, cinnamon toast & Orthodox Communion wine. Taste seriously makes me think of thick sweet syrupy Orthodox Communion wine, red grapes, sugar, huge raisin, cinnamon toast, weeds, pomegranate syrup, Christmas Cake, spice, didn’t really pick out the raspberry, lightly boozy fermenting red berries finish. Body is Orhtodox Communion wine syrup. Very odd connotations here, unusual beer but very Christmas-like indeed, strange I liked but the opinions of others were less favourable.

Pours rather clear, very dark amber. Small white head. Smell is overly spiced. Taste is very spiced, dry bitter spicepowder. Not balanced.

Keg at Cafe Beermoth, Manchester. Amber/brown shade. Finger of head. Gingery spice aroma, orange peel, raisin. Brown sugar-like taste which is a bit dry for me. Feels nicely Christmassy though.

750ml bottle in a taster glass. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, pale and caramel malts, more holiday spices, some light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. A spiced, Belgian ale. Hooray! /s.

12/27/2014. On tap. Clear amber with a thin white head. Sweet spicy aromas with dried fruit. Honey, spices, dried fruit. Oily texture with a sweet boozy finish. Very nice seasonal.

A killer noel. Lots of spice and dark fruit and citrus and the rosemary comes through not he nose and the palate. Ultimately, a delicate and very balanced beer with a festive element that is only the result of all these things working in harmony.

Bottled sample at Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a hazy copper with a thin head. Fair head retention. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel, bread, candied fruits. The taste is toffee, nuts, candied fruit, nutmeg and a spicy finish. Medium bodied, lingering spice.
