COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our wild take on a traditional Belgian Witbier! The wort is spiced with coriander, black peppercorns, and sweet and bitter orange peel before beginning a mixed fermentation with ale yeast and an array of Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus strains. Funky Wit matures in a foeder and then is transferred into wine barrels with apricots where it was aged for 4 months . Tart and spicy at the beginning, Funky Wit has a fluffy mouthfeel and ends with a lingering sweet coconut imparted by the oak.

From notes. Enjoyed at Abu’s house after Fury for the Mayweather – McGregor fight on August 26. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a nice juicy looking flat golden orange with a very thin ring of head that fades away quickly without a trace of lace. The aroma is nice. There is a good fruitiness up front with a light pit and a tart apricot skin. I actually like this one quite a bit. There is a hint of the funkiness and a light wheat, but the tartness and fruit really just keep it together. The flavor is even better. The bright apricot is great. The funk fades a little and the apricot flesh and pit really shine through. The mouth feel is a little heavier bodied than I would like with a bright carbonation and a lingeringly tart and slightly funky finish. Damn this is tasty. 8 4 9 4 16

Bottle. Mighty sour after a Smittwicks. It poured a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma was of apricots, funk, citrus and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more tropical fruits, apricots in the lead, citrus, funk, malts, lemons, malts and oak. Really tasty.

375 ml bottle shared by phaleslu. Pours a hazy. murky dark golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice, funky, tart apricot character, peaches, lemon/lime citrus, oak, pale wheat malts, mild peppery spice, some acidity, yogurt, some vinous character, great character for a lower abv beer.

375 ml bottle from the Societe du Chene; thanks for picking it up, Keir! Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head that leaves some wisps of film an da bubbly ring. Plenty of apricot up front and throughout, with oak, vanilla, peach, sugars, yogurt, spices, and lemon-lime tart citrus. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tart, funky, slightly acetic mouthfeel. This is awesome. I still haven’t had the base but hope to catch that soon - and definitely hope to see more from this series.

Pours murky yellow with a large white head. The aroma is very buggy and has oak, red wine notes, tartness that is lambic-esque and the oak adds a nice roundedness to all of it. It has a medium smooth body with soft carbonation. The taste begins with a good amount of sourness, lush apricots, bugs, red wine (but more smooth than sharp), vanilla, oak and light vinegar. The finish has smooth apricots and is very full and fleshy with them. Still the sourness runs through it. Excellent.
