Cask at The Great British Beer Festival 2017, Kensington Olympia. Hazy orange with a white head. Sweet aroma of soft fruit, and toffee. Flavour is banana, grapefruit and grain. The chilli is subtle and leaves a tingle in the back of the throat.

(Permon Don Habanero Chilli IPA 16°) Bottle 500ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 6.6% Deep orange colour on the body, clear, with a small but thick white head on top, good retention. Nicely fruity aroma with the chili peppers being present already. Taste is mostly peppers with a burn building up but nothing too serius, notes of tropical fruits too. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Not bad at all.

Chilli suppresses other notes. It is not ultra hot, but enough to kill off hops. Not enough to kill the caramel, though.

Bottle shared with Ladi. Pours Golden Amber with a Beige head. I was fully expecting this to be a sink job. It wasn’t. It’s maybe because we’d burnt our mouths out with ghost chilli jerky earlier in the day that this didn’t upset us. y concern with chilli in beer is that i’ve seen it go so wrong. This was a decent balance. The chilli swells the more you drink it but doesn’t become overpowering. The idea is fundamentally unappealing though. It’s not a great beer. I’m glad I only needed to drink half.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Vova. Hazy dark gold with a white head. Habanero, chili flakes and then a little toast in the nose, very hot, very bitter, amaro-like. Medium body, quite carbonated, then jalapeño finish.
