Draft- coffee nose. Interesting overall but confused by this. Much more roast than I’d expect from the style.

Draft. Pours black. The palate is crisp and light. The taste is straight up malty. Not bad however wish it had some lager malt taste.

It’s pretty good, and it’s a good drinkable beer, however, I’m not really blown away by it.

This is a solid Lager. Nice smokiness. Not a go to style, but this is a good representation of it.

Draft at DTW clear dark maroon brown color, tan head. Very roasty coffee ground aroma. Taste is equally roasty coffee with a hint of cocoa and licorice. Light body. Very drinkable.

Pour on tap, dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, caramel, some slight astringent malts into a bit of cocoa powder, some slight toasted bread. Taste was a mix of toast, roast, cocoa, some slight acidic malt into a bit of caramel, finishing with some spice, slightly bitter.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2015 Tap: Jet black with a toasted brown layer of foam that sits across the top. Aroma of burnt toast, mild char, & dark malt. Kind of vague. Lots of burnt toast, though. Heavy handed with maybe just a hint of very dry cacao dust. Flavor has a lot of lager yeast qualities to it. Again, more of that charred toast with heavy dark malts, dry cocoa powder, & some burnt grains. Pretty clean finish, relatively dry, Easy drinking, light bodied.

Sampled at the brewery. Nutty roasted malt with char and coffee notes. Dark black with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with high carbonation. Starts dry with a bit of carbonic acidity, char, and roasted barley. Good hop finish with clean, slightly nutty after.
