COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The third installment of our Cooper’s Series comes at you like a California gold rush. This majestic Imperial Red stands tall and hints at the re-emergence of spring with its rich, deep aroma and a fresh oakiness. Like a forest awakening from hibernation: the Centennial, Summit and Topaz hops come together with a variety of Crystal malts to create a sophisticated beer as grandiose as a Redwood. No Redwoods were harmed in the making of this beer, but Oak trees were.

Aroma mostly oak, taste is dominated by oak as well, some malts and sweetness, not as good as the others

From notes. Finally getting around to adding beers from the Ypsi Summer Beerfest! Enjoyed on July 25. The pour is a nice amberish color. A little light, but looking like a red ale. There is a decent white head and some moderate lace. The aroma is pretty hoppy and carries a nice malt presence. The flavor is a little more complex. There is a lot of barrel on this one with a strong oakiness. The hops are more hidden, and it does seem to become much sweeter. The mouth feel is pretty thin and light. Minimal carbonation, thin and slick. The aftertaste isn’t very good either. Like a thin medicine.

Draft sample. Poured a clear ruby copper color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting and had excellent lacing. Good earthy hop & wood aroma. Medium to abundant body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.

Notes. Pours light red/copper. Rusty aroma and grass. Taste is astringent and overly bitter. Some old wood at end and finish is terribly medicinal

Nate (4296) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 19, 2014
Sampled at the brewery. Green apples, light oak, a bit of sweetness. Rich golden amber clear with thin lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts with mild carbonic bite, nice bourbon and oak notes. Mild hop bite with oaky finish and nutty-oaky after.

Tap. Amber gold with beige head. Sweet perfume of cherries, some malt. Light rubbing alcohol. Thin body. Sweet. Barely there hops. Pass.

Draft at Perrin. Pours a reddish copper color. Aroma and taste are dominantly oak.

b3shine (9338) - Indiana, USA - JUN 6, 2014
Draft to snifter. Looks good; a fairly transparent Algerian copper with eggshell head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes of amber malt and hops (in that order) with a n average mouthfeel that’s on the sweeter, fuller side. Not bad, but sweeter than I’d prefer.

3.4
rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Tap. Deep amber with small head. A bit hot, but smooth at the same time. Woody. Medium hops.

3.6
Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - MAR 11, 2014
Draft at Blackthorn Pub. Copper color with some amber. Not much aroma at all. Smooth and balanced flavors but they were very muted.
