COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The vanilla beans used in this beer come from... you guessed it: The Kingdom of Tonga. Tonga has over 170 islands and is located in the South Pacific. The taste profile is much different than our former Vanilla Porter. Those beans were sweeter; whereas the profile of these beans consists more of fig and raisin . Chocolate and coffee notes (with a subtle caramel touch) set this beer off while the vanilla beans lead into a delightfully dry finish.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt and vanilla aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy vanilla sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate long duration. Good complex brew that met my expectations.

Draft to taster at Cappy’s pour opaque dark brown with thin tan head. Nose big powdery chocolate and vanilla. Light roast. Taste similar to the nose with sweet milky chocolate and bigger vanilla. Light chocolate and roast in the finish.

Pours a dark brown with a tan foam head. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, lactose, and an odd fruity aroma, almost like strawberry - perhaps the strain of vanilla bean? Flavor is similar, with some roast and earthy notes - has a milkshake-like quality. Smooth. Much different than I expected. The fruitiness I get from it reminds me somewhat of Saugatuck’s Neopalitan, thought a bit off-putting. Not bad.

Crowler pour thanks to rick. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is vanilla roast malts chocolate sweetness. Taste is more of the vanilla chocolate and light sweetness. The vanilla put off an odd taste make it feel artificial.

Nitro draft to pint. Looks good; settles into a translucent dark cola with creamy beige head. Smells solid; vanilla and chocolate alongside mild notes of fig and caramel, and a touch of cold-brewed coffee. Tastes like it smells, sans the caramel, and with a bit more of a coffee presence. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and creamy. Enjoyable.

Tap at Clubhouse BFD. Pours dark brown, big ol tan head. Aroma is lots of vanilla and roasted chocolate. It almost approaches too much but makes it just in time. Excellent. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate, but just tons of vanilla. Creamy Nitro body.

Pour on tap, dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big vanilla, vanilla bean into some brownie, chocolate, some coffee into a bit of yeasty, toasted bread notes into some slight coffee and roast. Taste was a mix of caramel, dark chocolate, roast, some slight coffee into nice vanilla, finishing sweet.
