COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Honey Nut Brown Ale made with a complex balance of black barley, chocolate malt, wheat and honey (but no nuts) is an extremely flavorful ale, begging you to come back for more after each quaff. Supporting the flavor in Lamppost Ale is a mixture of American hops and a London ale yeast.

SHIG (4964) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - AUG 13, 2016
Draft: Poured a orange with white colored head. Aroma was nutty. Taste was a grainy and honey mess. Not sure how this is a brown ale.

3.4
phaleslu (10743) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2016
Draft at the brewery, served in a flight. Pours a coffee brown color with a moderate beige head that settles into a thick ring while lacing the glass. Notes of dry roasted malts, dark chocolate, honey, nuts, and tobacco. Light-medium bodied, with a dry, roasty, somewhat bitter mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Not sure this could qualify as a brown ale; it’s dark and more intense.

brokensail (16660) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 27, 2016
On tap @ Petaluma Hills. Dark brown in color with a khaki head. Molasses bread and a lot of fruity esters. Far more roasted malt character than I would usually expect, or prefer, in a brown ale. Okay in some ways. A little thin and perhaps even a touch acidic for my tastes. Some cocoa/dark chocolate, burnt toast, and somewhat bitter on the finish.

3.4
KyotoLefty (10719) - Kyoto, JAPAN - FEB 10, 2016

Tap at the Brewpub. Almost black with lace. Nose is honey, coffee, chocolate, rather creamy. Sweet flavor of honey, milk, coffee. Decent.

Ferris (16690) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 3, 2016
Draft - Sweet, dark roast with almost a gingerbread note. Dark brown with a light brown head. Light toasty and roast, with a bitter toast finish.

Homer321 (5202) - Melboring, Florida, USA - FEB 3, 2016
Draft at source. Nose is burnt honey and dark bread. Deep brown color. Watery mouthfeel initially followed by a bread crust flavor. A touch thin.

3.1
Leighton (22508) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2016
Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours rich brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has some toasted bread, molasses, dried dark fruits, figs. Medium sweet flavor with toasted bread, light roast, earth, bitter leathery fruits. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Bitter earth and burnt grass on the finish, light cocoa, toasted honey, burnt molasses. Not bad.

2.8
VsXsV (4557) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 3, 2016
Draught at Petaluma Hills. Opaque almost black liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, butter, caramel and raw sugar. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of coffee, chocolate and grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent, but not very brown ale like.

3.3
Theydon_Bois (20873) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2016
Keg at the brewery tap room, 03/02/16.
Light black with a decent khaki cap.
Nose is light roast, honey, grain, raisen.
Taste comprises roast malt, honey, toasted brown sugar, light cocoa powder.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok stuff but more a porter than a brown for this Bois.

JulienHuxley (5964) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 2, 2016
Sample on tap at the brewpub. Amber colored pour with white head. Aroma is really malty, honey, light floral notes. Taste is sweet, light honey flavor, brown sugar. Palate is med-light bodied with light carbonation.
