Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a black color with a fingers worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace leaving some sly lace. The aroma had some smoke, ash/char and roasted malts. Some nuts eventually come out. The flavor leads with the roasty to char-like taste. Some smoke comes out. Mainly a roasty/char aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt fine as the brewer projected. Overall, pretty good Irish dry stout that I could have again.

Draft: Poured a black with a tan head. Aroma was smokey and roasted malts. Taste is similar with smoke and roasted malts.

phaleslu (9923) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2016
Draft at the brewery. Pours an opaque coffee brown with a tan head that settles into a ring, leaving spots of lace in the glass. Notes of roasted malts, toasted sugar, earth, and dark chocolate. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a thin, very lightly roasted, fairly clean mouthfeel. Decent session dry stout.

On tap @ Petaluma Hills. Just about black with a tan head. Like many of these types of beers, this is just sort of bland and roasty with some coffee, burnt toast, and earthy hops. Mild to minimal sweetness here. Cocoa powder and a light bitterness on the finish. Not my favorite kind of beer, but this is fine and rather inoffensive, particularly compared to some of their other beers.

Draft - Dark malts, cocoa and some chocolate. Dark brown with a light brown head. A nice dark roasty bitter note, but a bit one dimensional and weak body.

Draft at source. Moderate coffee chocolate and light toasty malt notes. Taste is a harsh and watery coffee water flavor. Not a fan. Too thin and watery and burnt coffee like.

Leighton (20548) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2016
Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours deep brown with reddish highlights and a creamy tan head. The nose holds some old coffee, light roast, earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with mild roast, dry cocoa, scorched earth, day-old coffee, aged leather. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Dry on the finish, with some more cocoa and coffee. Fine.
