Draft at the brewery, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy brown color with a small beige head that settles into a ring. Notes of chocolate, toast, tobacco, mild roast and a little bit of earth. On tap @ Petaluma Hills. Very dark brown in color with a khaki head. Has sort of a nice fruity cocoa and coffee thing to it. Some sweetness of caramel, berry, and malts. A good bit of roasted malt flavor and bitterness to it. Fairly dry on the back end, actually, which I wasn’t expecting. A bit of an earthy and leafy thing to it, too. Okay. Tap at the Brewpub. Nose of coffee, chocolate, roasty. Flavor is cocoa, coffee, dry with a touch of berries, honey, and flowers.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma has nicely toasted malts, earth, dark sugars, dried fruits. Light sweet flavor with soft coffee, toffee, earthy bitterness, leathery berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Nose is light roast, chocolate, dark fruit.
Taste comprises chocolate, red berry tang, toffee fudge, raspberries, light tobacco.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.
Decent enough porter.
