Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, grain), lightly hoppy (flowers, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Flavor balance isn't too shabby, but the aroma leaves a lot to be desired. Drinkable but not really that enjoyable.

Copper body, medium off-white head, malty nose with a metallic twang. Pretty weak flavor with hints of malt and that metallic twang. A hint of bitterness followed by biscuity malt in the finish. Another contract-brewed mediocrity from Pete. kwoeltje (2234) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - SEP 2, 2003
Copper/brown color. Decent tan head. Mild malt aroma. Just a hint of sweetness. Body is a bit bit thin. An OK O-fest. 1more4dessert (336) - Upstate, New York, USA - AUG 3, 2003
nice substantial tan head, toffee and nutty malt nose. Modestly complex flavor. Quite good. Hmelsicky (39) - Maryland, USA - JUN 10, 2003
I enjoyed this much better than the Samuel Adams Oktoberfest. Wish they could sell it year round

Pours a nice clear, dark copper color with small head. It has a good, strong malty aroma that is nutty and slightly fruity. Medium body with moderate carbonation, the flavor is malty up front with a slightly sweet finish that is slightly nutty and a little thin. An average Octoberfest, but pretty good for Pete's. This is a very good seasonal beer. A rich taste and hasgood body to it. It fits the season well. redlem (1306) - Ohio, USA - JAN 27, 2003
A average marzen. A amber/orange color with a slightly orange head. Mildly spicey. This is a good fall beer. Even better when on sale and it comes with a free glass. jgb9348 (6482) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 10, 2003

Amber in colour with a large tan head of about four centimetres in height. Ruby highlights show when held up to the light, pretty nice! Malty aroma with some spices (nutmeg) thrown in the mix. Medium-bodied; Spicey flavour with malty characteristics and a mouthful that coats the inside of the mouth. A decent beer, pretty spot-on for the style, better than some others but not a great beer by any means. I bought a six pack of twelve ounce bottles at Top's in Rochester, New York.
