Pour is more of a copper-orange color with a nice white head that has staying power. They call this stuff Red Ale, but it has the nose of a classic pale ale. Hoppy at first, but then smooths out into a cramy aftertaste. This stuff is basically a pale ale. Its not bad, but its not great either--lacks character. foduck (330) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 28, 2003
Mostly bland with some toasty malty flavor. Slightly sweet, could be a lot better, could be a lot worse. No hop presence. frylock (1135) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUL 19, 2003
Decent redish brown apperance. Malty and watery, not much hops to speak of. Another boring and bland beer by Pete's. ericnixon (746) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 17, 2003
From what i'm told is that Pete's beer used to be wicked good. sadly now they wicked suck ass. well, this one did. it wasn't horrible, but a sad sad waste of a beer. horribly bland and average. it's like Pete sold his soul to Budweiser. vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 9, 2003
Has a amber color with a good bit of carbonation and a light malt smell. Taste is lightly malted and finishes lightly hopped. Overall it is a but less watery then Killian's, which is good, but still nothing special.

As far as red ales go, this one is probably the best one I've tasted. It's pretty, it's got a distinct hoppy flavor that doesn't seem as obscene as Killian's. brownaler (644) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUN 25, 2003
Is this supposed to be red? Very litte to taste from in this beer. I would definitely try a Killian's over it which doesn't give it much credit at all. WabashMan (1024) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - JUN 24, 2003
Well, it's an alright beer, with a decent look to it, but the flavor lacks depth and much real character. UNCCTF (578) - Cary, North Carolina, USA - JUN 24, 2003
This beer is pink! So weird. It tasted more like a lager to me than an ale. I'm not having very good luck with this Pete's sampler so far. Steib (613) - Queen Creek, Arizona, USA - JUN 10, 2003
A little watery in the taste. Not much of an ale flavor. Fairly boring and predictable. The old red was better.
