More like Red Mush. Barely tolerable. Very weak effort from Pete’s. I guess it is like an amber, but it misses on so many levels. Not much hops going. Carbonated sourness is an apt description.

Surprisingly not even as good of a red beer as killians, or an other red beer I have had. This one was a little bit of a disappointment. Pete’s has some good beers, but this one is not among them. Average at best.

Amber color, decent head. Some fruitiness.

The only red rush here was the blood going to my brain in one instant headache. Pours relatively attractively, no complaints there. Absence of aroma or flavor was the first sure sign of trouble... Although in fairness it got better in the 2nd half of the bottle, where a combination of malt and hops flavors could be detected. And at least there was nothing too offensive in my book. I can understand why some would say it is too fizzy. But all told, this isn’t too bad for a mass-consumption kind of beer.

Pale red/orange color. Really thin and watery. Slight cherry taste in the front, but quickly overpowered by a pop-style texture. Way too fizy, which diminshes the overall appeal.

The commercial description tells it all! This is "effervescent" to the max. It’s basically like a really fizzy Killian’s Irish Red.

10/10/02: Color an attractive light orange-amber with an average head but good lace...Aroma mild but both tangy and sweet...Light sweetness greets palate at first sip, which is immediately swept away by wave of carbonation that overcomes whatever other flavors are there...I know there are hops in there because the finish is dry with a ghostly return of the initial sweetness...The excessive carbonation upsets the balance as well...There would be nothing wrong with the advertised ’heightened effervescence’ if it didn’t diminish the other elements of the beer...This is quite quaffable but a bit disappointing in the final analysis. Re-Rate 10/17/02: Carbonation not as pervasive this time around, allowing flavors to express themselves a bit better, including some mild spice in the finish...This rates a point boost in both the flavor and overall categories...

I had a Pete’s sample pack of 5 different beers and this was the best of the bunch. Great color and taste!

MaxPower (961) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 28, 2002
Not much aroma or flavor, weak, watery and not very good.

AceOfHearts (1374) - Mountain View, California, USA - SEP 23, 2002
Clear amber color, respectable foamy head. Somewhat light on the tongue. I get some small amount of hoppy fruitiness...white grapes, pears, apples? Little bit of malt, nothing too special. Off-flavors come out toward the finish.
