33cl bottle at Akkurat. 2002 Vintage as Cuvée Akkurat. It pours a slightly hazy amber colour with an almost non existent white thin head. Aroma is dusty and vinegarish with some earthy funky notes and red berries. Taste is toasted bread, red berries and some acidic tone. Some mild funk and zestiness. Quite clean dry finish. Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. I bet it tastes very different from the fresh version but this bottle stood the test of time. prawlie (1611) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2013
On draught at a L’ange Gardien. Bitter, ’green’, and crisp. Cloudy orange-brown with a good creamy head. Hoppy. The aroma is also hoppy, but not overdone. Fair, but inferior to normal Orval. bierkoning (13387) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - OCT 2, 2013
Bottle. Amber color, hazy. White pepper, leather, citrus and floral hops in the complex aroma. Thin, but also an amazingly compelx flavor for such a light beer. White pepper, citrus, floral hops, nutmeg. Bretty notes. World class! PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 26, 2013
Glass, at Brasserie d’Orval, shared with Mathieu87.
APPEARANCE: light clouded amber beer, nice stable off white head.
NOSE: fruity, watery, green hops, grass.
TASTE: bitter, watery, bitter, hoppy aftertaste, Hallertau?
In general, decent, but watered down Orval IMO KyotoLefty (10311) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 8, 2013
Bottled at the Leiderkerke Beer Festival. Cloudy amber-orange with a tall, fine head. Funky Orval nose (1-2 years or so I suppose), grassy, citrus hop, brett, caramel. Just a bit fainter than the regular, but look and nose is about the same. Light body and flavor, but good brett character and hop bitterness. Light, crisp citrus, grass, funk. Excellent. Obviously properly aged. Even more so than the Chimay Doree, the ultimate session beer?

Vacation 2013 @ Virton, Belgium. 25 cl. glass on tap @ A l’Ange Gardien. Hazy amber with a white head. Floral aroma. Slightly more yeasty and less hoppy than the regular Orval but still a great beer. I could drink this all day long but regrettably we had to go after 3 glasses.

Karnemelk-like malts, light hops, less sweetness, less body, some more sourness, lighter, more watery (more refreshing!)
A lighter Orval, but lacking some of the Orval character.

Orval van het vat op 6 aug. 2013 geproefd in A l'Ange Gardien.
Mooi amber bier met vaste stevige schuimkraag blijvend op her bier.
Mooi frisse moutig bittere aanzet. En lange bitterheid die zacht en lang blijft in de mond. Een bier voor de echte bier liefhebber.

Tasted at the Orval cafe next to the Orval Abbey.
I was waiting for a long time to have it. It is not as nice as the heavenly regular Orval, but just the fact that you have it on draft in an amazing place, it makes it perfect. Its less bitter and more yeasty than the normal one, with a soft aftertaste. VsXsV (4465) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 27, 2013
Bottle at DHVL. 2009 vintage. Clear light copper liquid with medium to big off-white head. Aroma of light barnyard, bread, mint, light grain, light fruity funk and lemon peel. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of light barnyard and bread. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really very similar to Orval, but lighter. The name is very fitting.
