Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the mother beer, used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseurs delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Bottle poured into a Duvel glass. Nice clear orange with a foamy white head that sticks around for a while. Nose is tart and a bit funky, with apple cider vinegar and green grape notes. Flavor is nice and tart, a little acetic, definite lemon notes, a little bitterness. Enjoyable and refreshing. I wasnt expecting a sour, so this was a nice surprise.

Poured clear gold with a very thin, fizzy white head that was gone fast. Aroma & taste: watery, acidic sour lemon, mild apple cider, notes of vinegar, faint wood. Medium carbonation. Finish was very acidic. Thin body without much depth. Overall; very raw... just didnt work for me.

SHOCKING! The smell wasnt what I expected but, that was nothing compared to the taste. I was so shocked by the taste. I wasnt the one that poured it and I was doing something else when I tasted it. It completely woke me up! My wife kept asking if this was really a beer. I would say that this is a perfect beer for anyone that says they dont like beer and they have only tried Bud and Miller.

Clear as a bell and light golden with a big fizzy head. Nose is acid, vinegar and old fashioned candy sticks. Minor oak. Flavor is sour, sweet malt, candy. Finish has a blast of bitterness and acidity. Very good but not as complex as some golden sours. Easy to miss any dry hops or barrel aging.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2012 UPDATE: pours a nice clear golden color with small white head. Aroma of is pretty funky, slightly cheesy, slightly vinegary, some basement, barnyard. Medium bodied. Flavor is quite tart, with a very dry finish, and notes of cheese and funk throughout. Liked it a lot better second time around.

330 mL bottle. Pours golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma is a very acidic sour lemon. Sour enough that I feel like I start to taste it on the back of my tongue. Flavor has the same acidic lemon sourness, but not as aggressively, with some biscuit, touch of dustiness. Very dry. This is a great sour.

This is one of the first sour beers Ive had at Quinns in Seattle. It got me hooked on the genre.
