Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

De trader Joe variant geproefd. Heerlijk zuurbier. Overtrof mijn verwachtingen. Heerlijk zuurbier die perfect kan wedijveren met de beste zuurbieren. Ongetwijfeld het beste bier van De Brabandere. Heeft de perfecte zuurtegraad om als zeer dorstlessend over te komen. Heel mooi in balans.

Thanks Hrabren! Clear golden body, white head. Intensive sour aroma one could easily mistake for a lambic, with all the funky, "wild" notes one would expect. Surprisingly sour, intensive funky taste, toothrot, quite rough all in all, which is most certainly respectable in a way, but kicks it out of the interest / enjoyment zone for me. Not fully, but just enough. Props to the brewery for making it, but just not my cuppa tea.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2017 0.33 l bottle I got from my family. Thanks! Shared with everyone. Clear straw to golden, small off-white head. Strong acidic aroma, fruity. Moderate sour, malty underneath. Light body, soft carbonation, light to moderate dry and tart finish. Not bad.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with thin white head. Aroma of lemon/citrus, alcoholic and sour. Taste is sharp, acidic, sour with a VERY sour finish. Some warming alcoholic notes present and very little hop presence. Much prefer beers using this as part of a blend than the beer itself on its own.

Przyjemny aromat. Kwaśne, lekko winne. W smaku mocna , wyraźna kwaśność, ale mocno skontrowana słodyczą. Lekko ściągające w posmaku. Jest lekko beczkowe. Są nuty cytrynowe w smaku. Całość fajnie skomponowana. Dobre piwo.
