Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the mother beer, used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseurs delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, Belgian yeast, hops and brettanomyces.

Appearance:
Clear/hazy beer with a slight/medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts and Belgian yeast; ends slightly bitter and medium sour with hops and brettanomyces.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense and complex, but lacks balance. The sourness of this beer is a little too dominant for me. This is a more than decent beer though and a real threshold for any other sour/wild ale for me.

330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 for the book. This one is going to actually be decent. The pour is a clear slightly darker golden color with a bubbly white collar of head and a small film of white froth. The aroma is nice. Its vinous and woody. Its definitely tart and acidic with a bright fruit skin. This is a nice surprise for what I was thinking they were offering as a pale. Its a touch basic, but well done. The flavor is completely different from the aroma. There is a woodiness to it, but other than that, its plain there is a light tartness and a lighter fruitiness happening, but its very plain. There is no real sourness, just a light tart woodiness. The mouth feel is a little heavy. Theres a light syrup and a decent carbonation with a lingeringly woody finish. This on is good, but its just plain and basic.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is sour, funky, oak, barnyard, sweet, good. Appearance is golden, slight haze, white head. Taste is woody, tart, sour, some funk, overall pretty basic. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, woody dry funk aftertaste. Overall, this one is pretty disappointing for what I was expecting.

Bottle at the 2015 Beer&Boardgames in the woods session with esp0r & simonsen. Clear golden body, big fast disappearing white head. Aroma is funky and sour, vinegar, apples, spicy and herbal. Taste is sour with raw fruit, quite bitter. Somehow I find myself both liking and disliking it all, its a strange blend that works in some ways but also seem a little onedimensional in the sour direction. Anyway a nice experience.

Un bonito color dorado, cabeza blanca apropiado y un agradable aroma de ctricos. El sabor es un poco amargo y afrutado, con el roble de madera. Darle una oportunidad.

330ml bottle. Clear golden amber colour, yellow white foam head and aroma of citrus rind, lemon meringue, candy, funk. Taste is sour, grainy, fruity, with citrusy lemon rind, funk, woody oak and some earthy bitterness. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry tart & tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
