COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2017 Średnie w zapachu octowo - winne. Smakuje lepiej bardziej pod wytrawne wino, trochę octowe, skóra w domyśle. Trochę puste.

rauchbier (3902) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - AUG 20, 2017
Bottle, from Lidl. Gold, fluffy and lasting white head, good insistent condition. Pleasantly citric tart nose with a background wild funkiness, hints of blood and gunpowder and some woodiness. Quite soft in the mouth with an initial malty sweetness that becomes slightly acidic and fruity with a background chalky dry note and a much more muted bretty funkiness. Finish is lightly tangy and slightly sour with some dry lemon notes and a lingering puckering dryness.

Draught at Beers 2017, small creamy head, clear quite deep yellow color, aroma of sweat, sour bread, vanila and spice, flavor of sour fruit, wood, yeastiness and mustard, mellow empathic medium sourness, very light sweetness. Nicely balanced. Very nice and highly enjoyable.

Bottle 1 year 10 months before BBD. Clear pale yellow with a huge lasting white head and lively visible carbonation. Aroma of oak, vinegar, apple cider. Quite a crisp sourness. Flavour of balsamic vinegar, oak, green apples, lemon, grapefruit. Disappointing finish that is lacking a punch similar to the better beer in this style. Much better options out there.

thellgren (1082) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 8, 2017
0.33 l bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Appearance is golden and clear. Aroma has balsamic vinegar. Taste more than sour - it is like balsamic vinegar. Acid, but also very complex. Some wood and tannins, perhaps? Looks like pilsener, but tastes like the usually more dark Flanders sour ales. Great.

Bottle, five months before bbd. Pours slightly hazy golden, with a big creamy head. Aroma is acetic, with wine vinegar, wooden barrels and tannins, as well tart fruity notes with rhubarb and berries. Medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is acetic, with wine vinegar, bretty wood and and tart fruity notes of rhubarb. Lingering tart finish. Refreshing, balanced and quaffable.

PietS (318) - Bergen op Zoom, NETHERLANDS - AUG 4, 2017
Fresh sweet sour, wild yeast, reminds me a bit of Geuze / cider. Aroma of apple, peach, grapefruit, a bit alcoholic. Light body; slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Easy drinkable and enjoyable beer.
