Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the mother beer, used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseurs delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours a light golden amber color. The head is a one finger white shade. Its more substantial looking than others in the style, but still fades quickly. Thin splotches of lacing are left on the glass. S: Theres good tartness on the nose - better than I expected really, given how low the Petrus Oud Bruin was in sour qualities. The fruit esters here are pretty light; apple, pear, grapes, and maybe some vague citrus. Even touches of honey and pale malts are found. T: Oh yeah. This one has some good mouth-puckering sourness. Its definitely acetic/vinegary in nature; however, its not perfectly integrated within the other (meager) qualities the flavor profile provides. It is balanced well, however. Just like the aroma, there arent really any cherry fruit qualities, its pretty much apple/pears/grapes alongside the acetic sourness. It becomes less tart near the finish as some light maltiness and the faintest ping of grassy hops come through. M: Pretty damn light in texture, which is just what I look for in the style. Oak tannins help to dry out some of the acidic zing on the finish and aftertaste, and never come across too harshly. It isnt particularly easy to drink, but it IS easy to sip, and thats what counts. O: This one definitely delivers the sour, puckering bite to it - and at a decent price, to boot! I really wish it was fruitier, but thats just nitpicking. Id definitely consider making this one a go-to sour for me.

Barwa złota, idealnie klarowne. Piana mało obfita, średnie pęcherzyki, szybko opada. W aromacie szampan, wino, kwaśne cukierki, wanilia, jabłko, aromaty stajenne. Nie ma żelaza. W smaku dość mocno kwaśne w cytrynowy, ale też trochę kiszony sposb, dzikie, drewniane, lekko taniniczne. Goryczka niska. Pełnia też raczej niska. Wysycenie wysokie. Intensywne i interesujące.

Piwo barwy złotej, idealnie klarowne, piana średnio obfita, sycząca, szybko opada. W aromacie szampańsko-winna kwaśność, stajnia, trochę estrw. W smaku wspaniale - bardzo kwaśno, tanicznie, ściągająco. Goryczka na średnio-niskim poziomie, głwnie w postaci właśnie tanin. Wysycenie wysokie. Alkohol dobrze ukryty. Świetny kwas.

Bottle purchased at Gomers. Spicy and oaky aroma, moderate to heavy carbonation but it works for this type of beer. Sour apricot and grape notes, had a hint of chardonnay like white wine in there. Finishes with slight woody bitterness. Overall not too sour and a very drinkable foeder beer.

Pours in clear pale golden liquid. Fruity intensive aroma, champagne like both in aroma and mouth-feel. Moderately sour, pleasant and lively. Medium towards full bodied, oily and thick texture. Very nice.

W aromacie nuty szampana, wina domowego i nuty wiejskie. Podsumowanie: Bardzo ciekawy i oryginalny kwas. Na prawdę dobre piwo.

Barwa złocista. Piana obfita ale szybko opada do cienkiej warstwy, dość ładny lacing. Aromat: winny, winogrona, stajnia, jabłka. Wysycenie wysokie, goryczka w porządku-niska. W smaku zdecydowanie kwaśne, sok z kapusty, lekko grejpfrutowe, lekko szampanowe czuć taniny z drewna. Alkohol bardzo dobrze ukryty, pijalne, ciekawe piwo.
