Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Draft at Monk’s for Dallas and Ann’s engagement. Pours a coppery-orange with a thin white head which diminishes to nothing. Aroma of hay, wheat, Belgian candied sugar, honey, caramel, lemon zest, tart, ripe fruits, and tons of bitter hops. Medium bodied with a stick, tart palate. Acidic, biting finish. Decent sour.

Pours clear golden with a large, fluffy white head. Smells sour, a touch hoppy and a touch malty. Tastes really sour with a touch of vanilla and malty sweetness underneath. Light-bodied with a wet texture and decent mouth-carbonation, Petrus Aged Pale finishes with a nice sourness that fades almost to sweetness.

This is my first sour ale, so I can’t comment on the style. Pours a dark straw-color from the bottle with a thin white head. Sour but balanced, makes me want to try more of the style to see where this stands. My gut tells me this is a strong representative.

Kevés hab, az is gyorsan eltűnik. Gyönyörű borostyán színű. Illata finom fűszeres, enyhén fehérboros jegyekkel, de felbukkan egy kis körte és alma aroma is. Íze kifejezetten savanyú, citrusos, mellette a fő vonása a fehérboros jelleg.

Dark blond, small head, aroma has hops, grain, straw. taste is just more sour, a bit like a gueuze. Surprising, light dry and a bit bitter. Nice thirstquencher.

Clear golden color with a small white head. Sour aroma with a hint of oak. First sip is very tart, then mellows and has a nice sweet/sour combination. Didn’t expect this much tartness from such a light colored Flemish. Very good.

Nice FSA, but not stellar. Missing a lot of the sexy complexity and vinosities of many of it’s ilk. Beer pours a clear, light gold color with a small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head that leaves a few lacy tendrils extending up the sides of the snifter. The aroma is bright, tangy and sweet: malty with light notes of toasted grain; trace of herbal hop; yeasty with a light notes of B vitamin, barnyard and damp basement; and heavy notes of sour apple and balsamic vinegar, and a light note of tea. The flavor is heavily acidic, lightly bitter and moderately sweet with a long, moderately acidic, lightly sweet finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

Quite bubbly very clear golden with minimal head. Musty nose and some citrus. Yeah there’s a bite to this, tart and some funkiness. The oak also adds some dryness. This is really nice and a nice surprise. Crisp and some residual tart dryness in the finish.

Funky, old blanket smell with not a lot else going on. Flavor was much better then I was expecting.Love that weird sour spoiled yeast. Not a lot of fruit or anything, just a wild sourness.
