Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the mother beer, used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseurs delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Bottle. A- Lemon, sour, mild brett. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Tart, sour, mild funk, musty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- This seemed more like an old past its prime champagne than a good Sour Ale.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Plus Culemborg. Clear golden with a thin white head. Slightly funky aroma with some fruits and some oak. Taste is very tart with a dry finish, alike to a good lambiek or champagne. Really interesting atypical beer.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color, topped with a medium big frothy white head, soon disappearing. Soury white wine nose, grapes and soem sweet chewing gum feel in the back. Taste starts puckery, sour white grape, tart with some herbal feel flowing around, more noticeable in the end and aftertaste. Light body. Decent one.

330ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co Wine & Beer (Glasgow):
Quite a strong, funky offering that came through with a lot of tart & Belgian yeast to give the beer a zesty, lively feel that was also quite dry. Initially quite a pungent opening, thankfully the beer settled down & mellowed out a little as it was given time to open up & breathe. There was some nice fruits coming through at times, the apple & citrus flavours being particularly enjoyable but there was definitely more alcohol showing nearer the end than Id have liked from this one. Overall it was quite a pleasant beer that started well but faded ever so slightly nearer the end; its still one well worth trying though.
