Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Gold and clear with white foamy head. Super tart sweet fruit on the nose. Medium feel with lively carbonation. Biting sourness on the tongue, develops through the palate into a burn on the finish. Not alcohol heat, but a sour burn. not at all what I expected from the label. Not much hop, and no vanila or wood flavors from the oak. Very interesting. All of these sensations are unpleasant on the first sip, but once you’re over the initial shock of the taste, the flavor quickly grows on you. I’m really learning to love sours.

Very strong sour aroma with a hint of soap. Clear yellow with a medium white head, that disappear fairly quickly Thin as water, though the best thing about it is a crisp carbonation. Taste is sour with a sour soapy aftertaste

Bottle 0.33 l, Lidl, Wrocław, Poland.
Złote piwo z obfitą pianą oraz lekko winnym, cytrusowym aromatem. W smaku wodniste, orzeźwiające, kwaśne, wyraziście cytrusowe z nutami szampańskimi.

Peach aroma.More vinegary than sour. If this was a cask beer I’d send it back. Not for me I’m afraid.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2017 Golden in colour. Good carbonation. Fairly sour. Mostly lactic acid as far as I could tell. Maybe a hint of woodyness.

Dermi (1182) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 17, 2017
33 cl, bottled. Pours clear gold with a white head. Aroma: Nettles, swampy notes. Apples. Taste: Mildly sweet, notable sourness. Citrus in flavour. Green apples, leather and mild oak notes. Palate: Medium body, some carbonation. Quite vinegary finish. Good.

Tide (3811) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 16, 2017
Bottle from Alko. Pale golden color, white head. Sour taste with citrus, earthy notes, vinegar, ripe fruits, oak and a bit of malts. Sour finish with citrus, earthy notes, vinegar, ripe fruits, oak and acidic notes. Good sour, albeit a bit too much vinegar aroma for me.

Bubeer (442) - - JUN 14, 2017
Pale gold (urine). Sparse head. Aroma intensity 3.75/5. In the nose, thyme, tomato, flowers and apricot. Heavy sour, medium bitter. Lively carbonation. Citrus mouthfeel remains hidden in inconspicuous places
