Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the mother beer, used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseurs delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

This is, without a doubt, the worst beer I have ever had. Having consumed many hundreds of different craft beers over the past thirty years, I thought that I should try a new style. But rather than a new style, its as if the brewer forgot about this batch for quite a while, and instead of disposing of it as any decent human being would do, he foisted it on an unsuspecting public, claiming that it was a new style and it is *supposed* to taste this way. And that gullible public, not wanting to feel as if they had been duped, chimed in with approval for this new style of aged pale ale. The very sad truth is that this makes Budweiser and Coors taste good, something that I did not believe was possible. Poured a pale amber with almost no head. Unusual aromas of cheese, cooked vegetables, and slightly skunky, Heavily sour and salty, but a nice lively carbonation. Tastes like beer mixed with cider and sweaty socks. This is horrible. Thank god I only bought one bottle.

First things first, this beer smells wonderful. It pours cloudy, dark yellow with a little bit of foam. The aroma is a song. It blends sour and rich and mellow tones beautifully. There is lime and cream and red wine vinegar and some spice, and I just sat and smelled it for a little bit before I ever sipped it. The flavor is really good, too. It starts out with the mellow character, borderline sweet and sugary, and then on the back of the tongue the sourness is high and tight. Just delicious. Far better than I had expected. I have no idea why I assumed this would be a middle of the road sour. I was wrong. Its one of the clearest and best examples of a non-Flanders sour that I have enjoyed so far.

Super clear light yellow pour with a slight white head. Awesome funky nose - taste is pretty good too, but not as impressive as the nose.

Bottle. Pale gold pour with a small white head. Very nice aroma of wood and sour fruit. First drink was so sour it almost knocked me over, but after it sat for a bit (and probably after my palate was numbed) it tasted pretty good.

Pours clear gold into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Funky lemon and lactose aromas. Soft with sweet hay and with lactic citrus front to back. Lasting bitter oak and pith finish.

Pours bright gold into a snifter. Bright white head leaves sheet lacing as it recedes to skim surface. Sour citrus aromas. Full sour fruit. Puckering yet crisp.

330ml bottle. Pours golden clear, fluffy off-white head stays. Aroma is tart, woody, caramely lemonade, wine notes, earthy. Taste is vinegary, woody, tannin, sour, dry sparkling wine. Alcohol and wood in aftertaste, dry. Medium bodied, average carbo. Very woody, much barrel. Interesting and very nice, but still little bit too much barrel for me.
