COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

Ruby red colored, clear, medium beige frothy head. Aroma is of some malt, light caramel, candy fruity, cherries, some light fruity tartness, doesn’t really give any sourness away. Taste is medium sweet malt, fruity, strong cherries, candylike cherry, some woody notes, bit tartness but expected more, overall sweet but there is a mouthwatering finish. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation, bit sticky, alcohol is very well hidden. Less sweet and more tartness would be nice but I still like it. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

Bottle. dark ruby to brown colour. Moderate off-white head. The aroma is cherry syrup, cherry stone. That’s it. Medium body. Medium sweet taste with notable fruit tartness along. Rather tasty as a fruit beer. No relation to sour.

BBE 16 8 2018. Punertavan ruskea väri, semivaahto iso tuuhea viipyvä. Nenässä pistävää hyökkäävyyttä (klooria, uimahallia?) Suutuntuma alkoholinen, makea käynyt marjaisa, maku kuitenkin vetisen juotava,

Dark ruddy-brown pour with a two finger chunky, oily beige head. Aroma is cherry, dark fruit, over ripe apple, caramel, a hint of stale chocolate, light nutty notes, and some fruity and floral notes. Flavor is dark caramel, lots of sweet cherry (more Luden’s, than fruit), sweet bread, peppery fusel notes, light earthiness and some light pine. Medium body, syrupy entry, medium, sharp carbonation and a dry, slightly acidic finish that has a boozy slickness. Decent overall, pretty sloppy though. Lots of fusel hotness, cherry notes are like cough drops. Looks the part though, great lacing and elegantly swirly film of foam redistributed with each sip.

W aromacie wiśnie w czekoladzie, intensywne i przyjemne. W wyglądzie bordowe z solidną beżową pianą, zdobiącą szkło. W smaku słodko - kwaśne z wybijającymi się wiśniami oraz nutami czekoladowymi, finisz brettowy, kriekowy, goryczki praktycznie brak. Pijalne, wysycone, alkohol niewyczuwalny. Ogólnie przyzwoite, choć z czasem zbyt słodkie i jednowymiarowe.

Butelka. Intensywny aromat słodkich wiśni. W smaku powtórka kontrolowana jakaś pestkowoscia. Wysokie nagazowanie. Te wiśnie przypominają napój wiśniowy.

Piwo czerwone klarowne. Piana wysoka, dość trwała. Ładnie lepi szkło. W aromacie wiśnie, ale niezbyt przyjemne. W smaku kwaśność skontrowana lekką słodyczą - też wiśniowo - znacznie przyjemniej niż w aromacie. Wysycenie niskie. Średnia do niskiej pełnia. Kompotowate.

Bottle 33cl. from a local Lidl, poured into a shaker. Clear deep ruby red, good dense creamy cream-brown head, half-way lasting, heavy lacing; aroma cherries, black currants, wood, candy sugar; smooth mouthfeel, taste medium sweet and light acidic, cherries, woody, candy sugar; aftertaste fruity sweet with a sourish touch, woody notes; medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation; alcohol well-hidden, despite a bit artificial feeling but enough acidity to make it a nice fruit beer.
