Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

Icedwarf (1657) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - NOV 15, 2015
Roodbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is fris zuur en fruitig, natuurlijk kers en braam. Komt verder ietwat waterig over maar is verder wel OK en drinkt gemakkelijk weg. Etiket is blijkbaar inmiddels gewijzigd.

750 ml served in a tulip. Pour is a clear dark ruby with a thick tan head and ok lacing. Aroma is canned cherry, yeast, and sweet sugar glaze. Taste is like cherry pie filling aged in oak barrels. Creamy with a sharp bite. Nice.

Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish brown with decent off white head and lacing. Nose and taste is cherry pie filling. Just a little tartness in the aftertaste. Good.

wombat23 (1427) - Texas, USA - NOV 7, 2015
Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Reddish brown color. Smells strongly of cherries. Tart cherry taste, but also some sweetness. Fair, but not great.

darbeer75 (904) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - NOV 7, 2015
Aroma: cherry and medicinal -- Robitussin; Appearance: muddy brown that glows red in light; Taste: sour cherry with sweet finish; Palate: medium body with soft carbonation; sweet and sour finish; Overall: too sweet but not bad if it’s a hot day and you want a Kool-Air type drink. Almost refreshing. Would not buy again.

Cherries, cherries and cherries! This beer is sweet! But maybe a bit to sweet for my taste...

Ernest (7698) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 5, 2015
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber/brown/red. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with strong notes of cherry and black cherry. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Basically a very sweet cherry soda with alcohol. Glad I didn’t have to spring for the 750mL bottles to try this.

jaghana (6073) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - NOV 2, 2015
Bottle 33cl shared by Calisky. A dark amber beer with good off white head and good retention. Nose is on cherry and tart touch. Aroma is sweet on cherry and oak notes, red fruits background, correct body but really too sweet.

Calisky (2941) - ALSACE, FRANCE - NOV 1, 2015
Couleur brune rouge, légère mousse beige. Nez de cerises sucrées. Gout de cerises, cerises noires, note légère de fut mais très sucré. Plus une fruit beer qu’une sour red. Decu

MGantzel (272) - Aalborg, DENMARK - OCT 28, 2015
Denne Petrus aged red har en lidt uklar rød-brunlig farve med et svagt hvidt skum. Øllen har en meget sød aroma og smager både sødt og surt af kirsebær. Medium karbonering.
